good point, but the majority of the population won't have to deal with that. I remember having to warm up my little diesel as a teenager when it was really cold. It would run a few blocks then stall but not die, then run a few more, etc. I only remember that happening twice though.

Really cold in KY, Clint? Whats that, 30 degrees F? :mj07:

I dunno about the "majority" of Americans not having to deal with the jelling of the diesel fuel, but those of us that live anywhere North of say, Kentucky, it becomes a problem. The semis that travel I-80 get around it by leaving the motors running at all times in the winter months--thats gotta really be painful when diesel fuel is 5 bucks a gallon....:(

Thought they fixed that problem with blends. I'll have to ask around.

That would be cool if they have done that, Morris. Still, I'd rather drive a 5 speed Honda Civic below the speed limit on the highway and get 40 MPH at 4.25/gallon gas than risk jelling of the fuel in a diesel at 5/gallon to get a little bit better gas millage...

sorry i asked...boy there are quite a few people on this forum that can't hold their liquor....

How does a blonde hold her liqour?...
...by the ears! Aha, ha, aaaahhhh....

Seriously, 6-5, I think you might be surprised at recent numbers regarding diesel.
The newest Focus (totally for example) has a diesel model that does 5.6L/100 k's [Oh lord...conversion time for you loners! :142smilie ...er, 42 mpg]...
...petrol model does around 8/100...[29.4]

Given diesel prices (here in Oz anyway) are roughly 20% higher than petrol...not that much difference overall.

A coleague of mine work as a Honda car saleman, and they've basically canned their Australian deisel models due to the ever decreasing difference in running costs.

Can't comment on hybrid tech, but diesel 'economy' is becoming a bit of a myth over here.

Did anyone know Scotty-A likes blokes?
