are we watching the best quarterback too ever play the game tonite? (of course peyton not mcnabb lol)

i have talked too my dad a bunch about some of the quarterbacks he watched in his day that i wasnt able too see, but i have a hard time believing that any of them did it quite as good as what peyton does. Being a dolphins fan I thuoght marino was amazing at controlling defenses, but man this guy is good. Curious too see what some of the older posters think about it.

I think he might be.

Unitas is definitely in the hunt, but Peyton..... :0074

I like these 2 because of the ability to call the plays right there from the line and not scripted.

if only he had a few more rings..... even though it isn't an individual accolade, super bowl rings have such a high importance to those who give out the "best ever" title.

Joe Montana and Elway belong in the conversation. No one else in the last 30 years.

John Taylor was not exactly a household name. And he won a Super Bowl before Jerry Rice got there.

In my opinion. No. Ill take Montana, and John Elway being a close 2nd. Much different game when these guys played. I cant imagine how deadly either of them would have been if they could have thrown the ball away when being pressured. If you have an opportunity go back and look at film and see how much more physical defenses where able to be when these guys played. Hit in the knees , blows to the head, literally being teed off on every other pass play. Peyton would not last a single season if they were still allowed to hit like they did 15-20 years ago.

cerebral

unmatched by any player at an time in the hisytory of the game..

it separates him from all the others..

the game is more complex than in any time of its history..

he reduces the game to a single action for each and every action..

John Elway did the most with a lot less talent around him.

Dan Fouts was the man but he did have great receivers to throw too:toast:

Taylor never played without Jerry Rice on the other side.

Montana won games and Super Bowls but the system he played in and the other talent around him pushes him down my list.

Take Manning from the Colts and you have pure record reversal. Those 13-3 teams become 3-13 in a heartbeat.

elway had the least of anybody....ever....until terrell davis showed up and he won 2 in a row

but to get that crap team he has for 10 years prior to 3 super bowls was amazing

i dont think he had 1 hof player on the roster with him the entire time.....and his wr were average and the rb's were worse
