ny, Your like shit, all over the place( pro gambler, mortgage broker and gypsie):D   , just kidding.

I'm sure fletch is going to disagree on this one, but if i was your age, I'd be in Vegas period!!! Not because of the gambling, but the business opportunities are incredible and the babes are beautiful. I know I've only been on the strip so I can't speak for the entire state, but what I saw, I was blown away.

You could work as a waiter and make a decent living until you found out what you really wanted to do. I know fletch is moving back to FLA, but Senor can chime in on this.

Boy to in my twenties again:confused:

from a business point it is a good move, Jaxs also has lot of jobs also , i hate this state you in in the middle on no-where traped like a mouse, there is only 2 other towns in this state carson city and reno and hell they are farther away then sd or palm springs which is just like vegas but better golf course and more money, and phx. i am 5.5 hours from people that can read for the most part after i leave here. there are more damn wild hourses then people after you get out of vegas. so it is like living under a glass shell in some scifi move TRAPED IN THE MIDDLE OF KNOW WHERE A TUMBLE WEED PRODUCTION STARING FLETCHER AS HIMSELF IN THIS WEEKS ADVENTURE HE WILL WONDER TO A DIFFERENT MT. RANGE IN THE CITY OF SIN WITH HIS DOZ EGGS TO SEE WHICH ROCK IS THE BEST PLACE TO FRY A EGG ON THIS TIME OF THE YEAR AS THE SAME WORDS RING OVER AND OVER IN HIS MIND COCKTAILS COCKTAILS AND HE HAS VISIONS OF THE BUSTY HOT BABES WHO SEEM TO ONLY KNOW THE WORD COCKTAIL. IT IS ABOUT A MAN SEARCHING FOR HIS SOUL IN THE MIDDLE OF FREAKING NO-WHERE! STAY TUNED FOR NEXT WEEK WHEN THE BIG ADVENTURE TAKES HIM TO THE SMOKE SHOPS THAT OVER RUN THIS CITY AS HE WATCHES THE PEOPLE DRAG THEIR LITTLE GREEN O2 TANKS INTO HABEES STORE JUST TO BY 4 CARTONS OF NO NAME SMOKES AND GET THE 5TH ONE FREE AND A PACK OF POKEY MAN CARDS TOSSED IN FOR THE KIDS AS THE DIE OF 2ND HAND SMOKE.

THIS PLACE SUCKS HELP I AM TRAPPED AND CAN'T GET OUT:eek:

LOL fletcher. Skulldog, I know I am all over the god damn map man. But Im young, have no family to support or other overhead besides feeding myself, insurance, rent, and beer of course, and just sick of the rat race in the east coast. I think now is the window for my to try things and have some fkin fun, before I eventually basically commit suicide and get married and have kids, lol just kidding, It will great to do that, just will be a big change that I dont want to deal with for another few years.

Naples is where the mtg broker thing would be, but I think It's too expensive there anyway. Pro gambler I wish would be my calling, but I dont have enough of a big sample size to prove/disprove that, and like fletcher says, it is NOT what you see on tv, its a daily grind, im cheap as it is with spending money on certain things, and being a pro gambler you hafta be even more frugal. vegas, was an original thought I had. Problem is kind of, Dont know anyone anywhere near there besides SD. Lot of temptations, I probably couldnt afford a great area, Plus when I tell my family, friends etc that Im moving there, they'll all give me bull$shit how Im gonna gamble my life away etc etc the usual non sense people say. Fla is a good compromise, poor state in some parts, but somewhat close to my roots in NY, and have relatives in lake worth so can always drive down there. We'll see though, I need to do some more work w/st aug, Lot of these summer rentals it looks like, need to find full 9 month leases at reasonable prices, that are liveable and dont have insects. keep the replies coming, fletch thats problem w/nev, lot of uneducated people(not you) but lot of homeless and derilicts in Vegas Im sure who lost their a$$ and cant get home. take care all

Los Angeles is a tough place for newbee's to break in..unless you have an "in". The City pace is unpleasant... and the job force is very competitive

fortunately i am locked into great "investments" which i am riding hard....otherwise i would be gone

Florida has great "pockets" of opportunity and community. My Dad lives in Florida.. i go every year.. and i enjoy the change.

Good Luck in whatever way you go...:D

thanks freelancc....I never considered LA, sherman oaks is nice had a family member there hat unfortunately passed on, but never had desire to move there. Florida is cool, you just better have some skills or way of making a living to survive, because most people there are trade jobs(plumbers, carpenters, etc) But its got great climate, and some young people in different spots and I think it can only be on the incline, not the decline, Thanks for the kind words

Interesting dilemma........

Was once similarly in your shoes although it was many moons ago. Didn't know what I wanted to do and where I wanted to live and thought maybe I could avoid the traditional lifestyle and gamble for a living. Living in New Orleans, Lousiana (you're right....a real cesspool of a state but some great people) I dropped out of college and played the ponies year-round for two years. Fortunately for me I had supportive parents who let me do it (my Dad actually staked me)and of course I lived at home so expenses were nill. Even though I failed, those two years were probably the most enjoyable of my life. Bottom line, went back to school and got my accounting degree, went into public accounting and became a CPA. By most measures I have been and am a very successful professional but still have thoughts of an alternative lifestyle. I guess once you get the taste of it you can never truly give it up.

One thing I have always pursued though is the quest to find the perfect place to live. I grew up in Florida, lived in Louisiana, was born in Pennsylvania, lived in New Jersey, Ohio, Illinois and have family in North Carolina and Texas. Even started a thread here awhile back seeking what attributes people look for in a place to live. Got some great responses. Currently I'm starting a real estate development company where I plan to build a town. Still looking for the perfect place to build it though and investors to join me.

Good luck in your search. Best thing to do is see for yourself as you'll go nuts trying to get advice as everyone is different and only you know what's right for you. Will say this though. No matter where you live (and I've lived in some real hell holes) there's always nice areas and things to recommend it. Ultimately work will decide where you live unless you're lucky enough to have a job that allows you to live where you want.

That was the kind of insight I was looking for! Louisiana is a fked up state Ive heard, but Im sure New Orleans is cool, etc, playing ponies is similar to me trying to beat sports, Im just not into ponies. if it didnt work out, I could definitely see myself going back to school, I have supportive parents in some ways, but not supportive $ wise, but I bust my a$$ working........sports betting is tough, ask fletcher, I think the way you need to do is take $ out RIGHT after u win it, that way you have some $ to live on at least for a little. Im in NY now still Mickey, looking at florida, san diego (b/c know someone there) and possibly others, just really dont know, It all depends, There are some nice places in most cities, I basically just want some nice weather, be able to pay my rent and eat, and meet some chicks to bang with some beers...For NOW, eventually Ill settle down into a normal "white picket fence" life. Thanks for the help guys, Ive been working my a$$ of capping, It is just tough mentally, get many bad beats, etc and have to decide between borderline plays nightly. Take it easy, keep replies coming

best is..

best is..

having visited most of the United States, nad having been to most of the major cities in America, nothing comes close to Austin, TX, nothing. It's such a nice town with great weather, great economy, great people, lots to do, with 3 of Americas 6 largest cities less then 3 hours away, we don't pay for anything, but we get all the benfits. Seriously, the only place to consider moving to is Austin, Texas. For those of you who don't know, we in Texas don't pay any state income tax.

Don't bother with San Diego. Can't beat the climate, but too many people already there with plenty more on the way.

Yea, ive heard fantastic things about Austin. Im visiting Texas this december, for 2 weeks of sporting events, bars and women, Ill post my details as the date gets nearer, But Id love to meet anybody on Madjacks for a beer, any day of the week, Itd be my pleasure, Ive gotten so much from this site. Fla remains the front runner for me, where fletcher said, no state income tax, and closer to my home and relatives. San diego hoops, you are right. I know a guy in la joila, hes single and has no family, does well, and cant afford that much. Plus, all the traffic, etc probably make it not as desireable. I will consider austion though, gonna take a hard look when i visit in dec, looking forward to meeting some of you guys

you're damn right anywaves! I know someone w/a condo, whos older and cant keep up with capping as much anymore, I was going to offer to do lot of his capping, errands and stuff, in exchange for cheap rent of a room, but I am leaning to st augustine, I just need to find out a few more things about it from fletcher about prices, etc, and how much yuo need to make to live there, he says not a ton. Going to texas like I said in dec, so Ill get more insights then, austin the only place there id consider though, take it easy guys, keep them comin!

I heard and remember from reading TJbell that Clearwater is nice.

What's up NYSportsfan?? Clearwater IS nice, but the job market pays a lot less than most places, unless you transfer with a company and they do NOT change your pay scale. (as with what happened with me. NO STATE INCOME TAXES ALSO! :D ) or you have a specific trade.

Make an extra $150+ per week and great weather, babes, and what seems like more bars/restaurants/strip clubs per square mile than I have seen in some time! :thumb:

What do you do for a living??

Do you like a VERY low crime area??

Are you a beach person??

Will the Missus be coming with you?? etc, etc, etc

I lived in Pensacola also, and that was nice. Weather here is better in the winter.

I lived in snowy, icy, freezing weather most of my life and I HATED it.

it really depends on what you are looking for. Baseball year round here is another cool thing!

Good luck on wherever you decide to live bro!!! Keep us posted!!!

Thanks Tom. Here's my situation in a nutshell basically........

1) there is no missus, I want to just bang anything with 2 breats wherever I move to,lol to make up for a time ago when I didnt get enough girls, plus gonna cut back my drinking and focus on picking up girls, Only am young once, dont wanna tied up just yet. So having many bars, strip clubs, etc is a plus. I also come from snowy weather, NY, and too expensive, had to always live w/a few buddies to make ends meet

2) I don't have a real living yet. I have a bunch of lower-level accounting skills, and some various other skills, Plus I cap pretty seriously, and thats basically my income. Have tons of golf course experience too, Was wondering if there is any demand for, or any potential decent $ doing that. Being I have no overheard really or anyone to support but myself, I can be flexible. Looking for a one bedroom apt that wont make me broke, and only other expenses food, insurance, beer......I think so far, clearwater, and st augustine are the two most viable choices. I just need to look into my own finances when the time is right, and go down and look at apartments and do a lot of leg work, hope you guys could help..........The move wont be until next august, so its almost a year away, but I need to give it a lot of thoughts, and may as well bring it up........No state taxes is great, problem w/fla is the lack of jobs, so I dont know if I could find an accounting job Im qualified for, but maybe....Thanks for the help, its appreciated!

Forgot to add...........I am somewhat of a beach guy, dont surf or anything but I like sitting down there, people watching, reading, etc so thats nice.......and yea, dont want to be in a high crime area and have to watch my back every second Im walking, just gimme a nice clean place with no frills that I can afford, not used to being worried about crime...hate snowy icy of course, thats why I want to move partially, and the high cost of living and I just need a change........Thats all

NYSF, Plenty of golf courses in this state! 1 bedroom apartments are really inexpensive. (Go to www.apartmentguide.com) or (www.apartments.com) <at least I think they are the sites or go under search and check florida apartments.

A few years ago, I had a 1 bedroom apartment in Pensacola for $400 per month.

I love living on the WEST coast of Florida overlooking the Gulf of Mexico!! The ocean is about 5 minutes away.

My parents live in Dunedin (about 15 minutes away) and I came here in December last year for a visit, and went to the beach all day. Temps in the low 70's!!!!

I live in Palm Harbor, which is the next city NORTH of Clearwater. Lots of road work going on. Last year the newspaper said Pinellas County (where I live) was the FASTEST growing county in the entire state of Florida!!

MasterCapper is coming to Clearwater to visit family. Maybe he can chime in at a later date!!

White beach sand (like expensive hotel ashtray sand) and fairly clean water. AND THE BABES ARE SSSWWWWEEEEEEETTTT!!!!!!

Do a lot of research before you move anywhere. Check out the crime rate, population, ethnic mixes, jobs, apartments, etc before moving. You'll be glad you did!!!

Good luck my friend!!!!!

ps: Did you ever watch a Dolphins game on TV in January and see all those people in the stands in SHORT SLEEVES and think to yourself.....WTF?????? 3 Below zero here and look at all those lucky FUKERS!!!!!

I DID. And now I am one of those!! :D :D

Thanks buddy. Ya know, I think just about everyone is getting tired of the phfukin crappy winters, so that is why arizona, nevada, florida are getting new residents like wild fire. I know there are tons of golf courses, I just hope there are a lot of young people, lol because if not, you make no tips... Pensacola, wow that is cheap. I dont want to go that far up north, a little cold there for me, and heard its a big army base, dont really want that.
The beach and women stuff is fkin great. Crime rate, and all important to me. ethnic mix not, I like everyone, and would actually like to meet met latino and black friends, just hard to, as people of their own race tend to be more comofrtable around their same race which is sad....I just dont want to get cheap with the apt's, and end up in a $hitole where I cant get anything fixed, and things dont work, just gimme a clean place where the appliances work and I can get a nights sleep.

LOL yea Ive watched those. Plenty of fkin times. Id be at giants stadium in december, and then come home and watch the dolphins sunday night, and see all those people wearing short sleeves. Its all a big trade off. Better salary, higher cost of living, colder weather in Northeast........Lower salary, lower cost of living, better weather in south..........I am going to look into it further, but it sounds like it may be a great place to move to, of course it always sounds great until you get there,LOL but I actually believe it.Thanks a lot!
