during the 60'and 70's when we got 1 college game a week on tv, it was just great when lsu played and marivach was on. if you did not see it, its hard to describe what he could do with a basketball. during this same era, rick mount at prudue and calvin murphy at niagria were great shooters and from long distance.

seriously, how could Larry Bird not be included.

You know the thing about Maravich though is that he was
6'5 inchs tall. When you are that tall and can still handle the ball
like he did, thats a whole differant player.

I guess Magic could match him on that at 6'9

rick barry also comes to mind.

with reference to hitman's comment on the pistol's ballhandling skills, i can tell you from personal experience i don't believe anyone could ever rival him in this category. when i was a teenager i went to the basketball camp at campbell college run by pete's dad press. pete was always there and would show off for the campers. one display that stands out in my memory had pete dribbling down the court at full speed passing each bounce between his legs. not the stagger-step you see others using, but a full speed running gallop. when he approached the basket, he spun the ball up balanced on one finger and, with the ball still spinning, pushed it up in the air just as he jumped, and headed the ball off the backboard and into the basket.

try that one some time.
