We are not talking about a guy being a star. We are talking about someone who can contribute for a long time in the NBA... I see Gray as a guy that can stick around for 10 years... And of course it is because of his body, but more specifically what that allows him to do... he is a very good rebounder... and is tough.
If you had a pick in the mid-20's, what more could you ask then to get a 7-footer that can rebound, will knock some guys around, block a couple shots... and all in all isn't a terrible offensive player...? Most of the guys picked in the 20's will be out of the league within 5 years... I'd much prefer Gray.
we are going to have to agree to isagree with gray.
I cant think of a worse offesnive set of skills than grays for the reasons mentioned previously. Yes he can rebound against most kids in college, but in NBA everyone has a 7 fter. Like i said, maybe blow a 2nd round on him but when you got guys like killingsworth and powe and craig smith to choose from who can all get a rebound the same as gray or even better, and these guys have skills, why pick gray because he is taller? He aint stronger than those guys im sure of that.

I guess we will have to do that.
Undersized power forwards in the NBA are a dime a dozen. Most don't stay in the league long.
Loved Killingsworth in college... but he will never contribute for an NBA team. Same thing with Powe, only he never really impressed me.
I do like Smith, though... He will be a player, I think. Great pick for a late 1st round/early 2nd round team... Always loved watching him play, and unlike the other two, I think he can get his shot against bigger NBA 4's. We shall see.

I really love Shannon Brown even though his stock is rising. Also, if Paul Davis can grow some balls he could be a very serviceable big man because he can really shoot it and does have a knack for hitting the offensive glass.

Paul Davis is one of the softest players in the country. He reminds me of UVA football. Under soft in the dictionary, they have a picture of Paul D...that, or the Davis family tree. I can't really remember.

Although not a sleeper per se, since Brandon Roy is the best player in the draft, any team that gets him after number 1, is in essence getting a steal. Also, Ronnie Brewer is a very good player that someone should get toward the end of the lottery.

roy and brewer and gay will likely be the best players from this draft and are ready to contribute immediately

most of the big men are projects and will likely pay dividends for their second teams

it's funny you mention the #20 pick...i think the hapless knicks have that pick.....

they'll probably package that pick & the other #1 they have & trade it to the bulls for the rights to jordan & pippen....that's how sharp they are....

this totally slipped by me the first time, even though I quoted it

Kinda fun to look back on this thread, cant believe I was that worked up over a pickup game, but I still remember which one that was sadly enough

Still cant believe Williams dropped to 20:scared steal of the draft EASILY

And Knicks picked up some lame late 2nd rounder with thier 20th spot which we all knew would happen

And Reddick did end up with Orlando like someone mentioned in the thread
