great stories, guys. the first one that always comes to my mind is that jax/pitt monday night game. it still amazes me to this day that i had jax.
on the losing side... i'll never forget this one.... i had just taken 2 years off from betting. at the beginning of the '96 college football season, i was starting to get the bug again. so i picked one game a week, but didn't play it. just to see if i could still hit some games. naturally, i started off 4-0 or 5-0. didn't play a single one of them. so the next week, i couldn't take it any longer. i took indiana, getting about 17 from iowa.
i decided to spend the day at turning stone casino. they actually had the game on tv somewhere, but i was focused on my blackjack. eventually a guy sits down at the table who happened to catch the end of the game. he tells me iowa won 31-10. ok, i lost by a couple points... big deal. oh, but then i found out HOW i lost. turned out, indiana was down 14 with the ball, with about one minute to go. even if they turn the ball over, iowa would just run the clock out. unless, of course, they happen to run back the turnover for a touchdown. yup. welcome back to the wonderful world of sports betting.
of course, i took this as a sign that i was to never again wager on a sporting event. hahahaha... good one. if only i was that bright.
