Alright Boys, I just ordered a Large BGE with the Acaia Wood table, it will be delivered Tuesday. I am going to have a few people over on Saturday, Questions I have are, do I need to season my egg before it?s first cook Saturday? Also what are the recommendations for accessories? I?m probably buying the 5 piece rack system unless there are other more recommended items.

The main thing you need is the plate setter or conveggtor is what they call it these days.

Thanks Jack!

I think the package I bought from Ace Hardware here in lovely Athens Ga came with that but I will make sure when it is delivered.

Any suggestions for a first timers beginning cook, about 10 people?

Uh.....you need some practice first. Watch some YouTube videos too.

Cooking for 10 people right out of the gate is a little scary if you've never used a ceramic smoker.

:iagree::iagree:

What he said. Joker shared all his wisdom with me and now it is like riding a bicycle. Do not try first time with friends unless a friend is experienced in using and been there done that. Do not fail to get the electric starter wand for your charcoal, Joker said this to me first thing, and thank us both later. Just letting you know also, Athens Regional and St. Marys are great accounts of mine and I will be there this Thursday. I offer my personal services to show you some temperature control tips with top opening, and bottom baffle(?) vent and how far to keep open. If you want my help, Jack has my number and I can swing by if you trust I am a real person. Otherwise, good luck, keep it simple first go around.

I would recommend putting aluminum foil over the conveggtor thingy as there are drippings that screw it up. Also, if u listen to Joker, your food is screwed.
Once fire is going pretty good close the bottom vent to about 1/4 of an inch and the top vent barely open. Settle at 220 degrees or so and do the 3-2-1 method of ribs.
I?ll check from time to time to see if u need any other help. Bottom line though, don?t listen to Joker.

Sorry guys, family came in on Thursday and haven?t had much time to sign back in. Egg showed up Wednesday night but it rained until Friday. Smoked/grilled some wings around 350 Friday night, lots of things were learned about temperature control 😂😂got up
Saturday and put a Boston Butt on around 9 am intending to eat around 7. Long story short it wasn?t ready, so I threw some burgers on the gas grill to st least have something for those who didn?t want to wait! Butt came off around 10pm, rested an hour and about 5 of us tore into it. Was super tender and tasty, not as much ?bark? as I was hoping for but a decent first attempt. Next time I will try to remember to take pictures.

Thanks for everyone?s advice, definitely came in handy!!

Sounds like you did well for the first go 'round! No need to apologize to anyone.

It stayed there for 4 hours when I had to pull. 2 hours indirect, 2 hours wrapped, and fall off the bone. I usually like putting them back on for 30 minutes sauced but these boys were done. Melt in yo mouth. They tore into them before I got pics. Gone!

Baby back ribs that is. When I wrap I put in a little apple juice, butter squirted on them and brown sugar all over.
