Looks like Texas and all the others are going nowhere other than Colorado and Nebraska.
Texas will get somewhere in the neighborhood of $30M in tv deals while A&M and OU will see $20M and the remaining 7 schools will get between $14 and $17M each which is double from what they were getting.

Utah would most likely join the Pac10 as a 12th team then.

The one problem I see is they lose out on having a conference championship game by not having 12 teams so do they look to add two teams. I would love to see them grab UH and TCU getting the old SWC gang back together. Not sure anything like that will happen.

I talked about this in the other thread.

For this TV contract they're going to need a champ game so they'll need to add two teams. If the money can be high enough expect Arkansas to be one of the teams to come in. They NEED to be able to recruit in Texas and since they left the SWC they haven't been able to.

Arkansas would NEVER leave the SEC.
Also they are getting over $20M for the tv deal in the SEC.

If Big12 looks to add then it is going to have be somebody getting a bad deal right now like UH.
In other words, somebody Texas can control.

Mack Brown hates the conference title game and doesn't want it so I don't think they add anyone.

Kegray, right now the SEC contract pays out each school 17.5 so the money wouldn't be too much different. From what I've heard Arksanas has already talked about looking around. They haven't been the same since leaving the SWC and most think it's because they lost the best recruiting base they had. If they started playing Texas teams again they could start recruiting here again and thus making themselves a national power again. So if the money is close and they can bring the sports back, the question is why not. A lot of Arks fans still consider UT their biggest rival.

I would love to see UH, TCU, or Ark back with the Texas schools but doesn't seem like it is going to happen any time soon.
It makes sense for Ark to bail if they ever want to get back to the top but leaving the SEC is a tough trigger to pull.

This is great news to me as that new Pacific 16 made no sense to me as a College football fan. Wipes out the rivalries and character of the conferences.

The one good thing I thought might come out of a Pac16 and a Big10 going to 16 along with SEC going to 16 would be a demise in BCS and maybe the rise of a playoff.
I am sure the BCS just took a deep breath and is saying we can relax for now.

Texas tells Pac10 thanks but no thanks.

Let's hope Big12 is not talking over there heads in terms of tv deals.

What network(s) is offering the Big12 money to the point where they can double teams revenue from before all the while losing a name brand team in Nebraska?
Big12 has had tv deals with FoxSports,ABC,TBS in the past. I am sure ABC is still on board, but they have zero desires to show Iowa St,Baylor,KSU, or even Kansas unless they are playing Texas or OU.
FoxSports seems focusd on Pac10.

So I am curious about this huge new tv deal that is willing to be given out and not even have a Championship game to air.

Sources said the proposed Big 12 deal with Fox, which would take effect in the 2012-13 school year, would last for 18 years _ well beyond the typical stretch for a TV rights deal. As part of the deal, league teams would be allowed to create their own television networks to boost revenues, which is a wrinkle that intrigues Texas officials.

WOW. 18 year tv deal. Sweet deal for teams like Baylor and Iowa St, but 12-15 years from now this will seem low for a school like Texas with inflation.

the individual network was the deal breaker. Texas stays in the same conference and the revenues are still tilted to them and they get additional revenue from their network. Schools like Iowa State and Kansas State were in a tough position. Either give the big concessisons to Texas or be left without a BCS conference. But at the same time those were the same schools that have voted w/ Texas from the inception of the league so no one to blame but themselves for letting one school have so much power in the league.

18 years, that is crazy. Curious what the revenue escalation is on the contract.

Sounds like a good deal for everyone. The Iowa Sts and K States shouldn't make as much as Texas. They should make those guys play 2-3 thursday night games and they would draw viewers. College Football is king and this turmoil would not have helped.
