Well I don't know about that. However more folks were working for a fair wage then ever before. I'll give him that.

I think even Dogs That Bark would agree, Clinton was one of our better presidents. Lying about a blow job doesn't bother me nearly as much as what this admin has done. Although term limits are a godsend right now, the opposite was true in 2000.

ocelot quote:"Greatest President since FDR."

i think you're digging at dtb about his clinton obssession, but in case you're not....i would rate truman & reagan as better presidents.

but there is no denying that bill clinton's story is what american dreams are made of....coming from a broken home, an abusive father, & being poor to becoming the president of the u.s.

if it wasn't for his sexual escapades ( i hear that he is still at it), clinton's life story is right from a frank capra movie.

I agree. But *somehow* Dogs turns that into a negative by constantly mentioning how Clinton never made more than 35k/yr..blah, blah. As if that's a bad thing or worthy of scorn. It's baffling.

i think he was a good president, but definitely not a great president.

imo, there are a few reasons why he is not a great president.....time consraints & me being lazy will prevent me from listing them......but i'll give you one off the top of my head.......

letting jimmy carter make him believe that n. korea wasn't going nuclear.

Oh that reminds me of one of the great under-rated presidents - Jimmy Carter.

Very true. Why he hardly ever gets mentioned as one of our great presidents is hard to figure.

Man, this is a hard thread to swallow.

PF,

It's very simple. Clinton was our best president since the 1940's and Carter deserves a mention as one of our top 6 or 7 ever.

Clinton is probably the best orator of our time in politics (even better than "The Great Communicator"). Clinton was also a good to very good President.

But Carter being mentioned with the greats is absurd. The guy may be one of the finest men to ever walk the planet, but I think he was an awful President.

Agree 110% with this. As far as Clinton, I'd say average. Of course it all depends on your personal views.

Osama Bin Laden said Clinton was the only President he liked. In his own language, Osama agreeably stated, "It's the economy stupid!"

Instead of opinion give us some reasons why you think he was a good president. What did "HE" accomplish that you think is note worthy. I will try an be objective and say 1st is was hard for a dem pres to get much passed through a reb house and senate so not all the blame goes to him. Now in my opinion his best accomplishment was welfare reform and frankly can't think of much else-but I am sure I will be enlightened :)

DTB you see those unemployment figures in the other post.
I don't know about you but my health care was cheap. Seems someone gave insurance companies the go nuts ok last 3 years.
When you have jumps of 40/50% that fast something is not right. I don't know who in Clintons administration may have had anything to help with rates. But Bush should hire him back.

Clinton's presidency was crippled by the Special Prosecutor. If he didn't have to spend 24 hours a day defending himself against one unproved charge or another, they finally got him on a blow job, the world would most likely be a better place now. As crooked as I think Bush is I thank God he doesn't have to put up with a Special Prosecutor.

So Cal
Carter is one of the worst presidents we have ever had. Outrageous interest rates, runaway inflation, gasoline shortages, ad infinitum. Is he a nice guy - sure. Has he done good works since out of office - sort of. He helped negotiate the U.S. out of the Panama Canal which is now basically run by the Chinese. The list goes on. But his efforts to help the poor are admirable.

Don't have any problems with Clinton - but the ineptitude of Bush makes him look better than he probably actually was. But he had many accomplishments.

FDR was forced into action because the country was going down the tubes and the previous administration chose to sit by and watch. But FDR also started the monster that has almost eaten us to the bone now - social welfare, subsidy, etc. In his defense, he was in a position where he had no choice but to shake things up to stimulate the economy and to his credit he did something. He should always be considered one of our greatest presidents because he took extraordinary action in an attempt to get the country back on its feet.

"DTB you see those unemployment figures in the other post"

yep saw them--didn't think they needed comment as most know that spin from Kerry campaighn. When someone make note of one area "job manufacturing" any logical person can assume they are diverting from entire picture--thats called spin. Manufacturing jobs have been on decline for past decade or more due to increased productivity and imports. Declined in Clintons term from Reagan's and you will see decline in next admin regardless of who is elected.

still waiting for the 1st--
"What did "HE" accomplish that you think is note worthy."

When we get that resolved we'll get into--
" A Great Man, A Great American."
That should be fun---;)
