Blue Jays acquired C Miguel Montero and cash considerations from the Cubs for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
According to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal, the Cubs are expected to pick up the majority of Montero's remaining contract. Montero was designated for assignment last week after he publicly criticized Jake Arrieta and the Cubs' pitching staff for their inability to hold baserunners. That's a big no-no to do to a teammate, but the Blue Jays are willing to add him as Russell Martin's backup.
