No, I don't think he is different, I think he tells these kids and parents what he thinks, without the swearing and chair/phone throwing. I think he tells some of these kids things they have not heard in awhile, like you need to work on this and you might not play right away. This also goes for the parents in the room that today seem to have different view of their kids talents. With the stories I hear from high school coaches and the parents thinking there kid does no wrong and that they should be the second coming, with Bobby sitting there I think everybody would know where they stand. Go to a high school game and just watch the parents, talk to refs today that have been doing this for 20 years. I think Bobby doesn't have to deal with this crap because of his way, and to me that is refreshing to see. Granted I don't think yelling is always the best way, but if somebody plays for Bobby and comes out and says "I didn't know what I was getting into" I think is a joke. There is no need to read between the lines when you deal with him. High School is different, you don't have a choice who to play for or at least you didn't in the past. At this level I think a coach needs to be more "middle of the road".
