I know this is his last game announcing for ESPN, but I've lost count of the number of times he's said that a missed basket or FT by Stanford is one "they are going to look back on as THE BASKET that may cost them this game."
I mean how many different missed shots can be THE singular reason they lose, if they even do! :mj07:

That said, I will miss hearing the guy announce. I don't think he was too bad and I always felt like I came away having learned at least one thing from watching/listening to each game he commentated.

I had to turn the sound off .. Telling them to call time out
When neither team had any .. Got on my nerves

He is a horrible announcer, gets almost everything wrong and is still stuck in a 70's mindset

I think at one point with miami up 3 he said something like even if miami misses here theyll still be guaranteed the lead after stanford has their possession......like there's no such thing as a 3 point shot?

I heard that one too! :mj07:

But he is capable of adding a valuable nugget of information once a game. Other than that, I completely agree.

Didn't realize he was done being a commentator. Is he going to shoehorn in his unqualified son as his replacement like the last job he left?

On the course!
All joking aside, I think what you guys are pointing out are all early signs of Alzheimer's. The guy can recall with great detail many, many things from his coaching past, and then he fumbles on very easy day to day fundamentals that he should know in his sleep? Come on. Whether you love him or hate him, it is pretty sad to watch a man of his talent fail like this, and I honestly believe this is why ESPN is tossing him to the side.

Well said and just like so often in athletics, Bobby is leaving about a year or 2 too late.......I'm sure the under 30 crowd, who just see him as an old man, mocks him unlike those of us who remember his brilliance and achievements.

I'm well over 30 and always found him to be an egotistical loudmouthed bully.......but that's just me.

Oh, I thought that also. You can be both. In fact Mr. Knight's favorite referee is a childhood friend. :0008
