USC-11 ?

Man, that is about 3 to 3' points higher than I thought it would be. While Palmer is hot as hell and ND has been in a bit of a holding pattern the last 3 or 4 games, it just seems too high. Plenty at stake here, obviously.

I think ND's defense can keep things under control here, at least enough to cover and maybe to win it.

What do ya think?

It's higher than I thought, too. USC's as good as a team in the NCAA right now. Sure they got exposed by Kansas State, but Notre Dame's not a Big XII team.

Seriously, I have to do more research on the teams that USC has faced defensively because I really think that the Irish defensive backfield may be better than any that Palmer has faced this year. It's hard for me to believe that he has gotten that much better since last year and I think that it has to do with pass protection more than anything else and I think Notre Dame will pose some problems. Also, it's pretty rare for the Irish to be getting double digits against anyone, even on the road (They did get 11 @ FSU -- Bookie :nutkick Me ---)

I think the line has to do with the fact that the Trojans are killing every spread that they play against over the last 5 and where else can they set the line?

Date Vs. Score Line ATS
11/23/2002 @UCLA W 52-21 -5.5
11/16/2002 AZ St. W 34-13 -14.5
11/9/2002 @Stan. W 49-17 -20
10/26/2002 @Ore. W 44-33 -1
10/19/2002 Wash. W 41-21 -7.5

. . . kinda like the 9.5 point line that they threw to the Irish in the BC game after ND covered 8 straight. I'm not sure what I'm doing with this game yet.

My puzzling line of the week is Nebraska +1. I thought I was going to be the sharpest of the sharp taking the Huskers +7. And then they open UNL as favorites.

Opening USC at -10' makes me think the Linesmaker is looking for Irish duckets (Why the hook?).

And even though USC's playing like their hair's on fire, ND did win AND COVER v Rutgers by +14 to the number.

If ND would have won/no cover v Rutgers, then I could understand the O/L.

Prior to the bye week, ND had two, consecutive large ATS losses (-17 and -20).

But ND goes on a weeks rest, TW makes some corrections and ND-28 reappears with a 42-0 win/cover (+14).

Carroll v Willingham should be a good matchup, but my ATS Crystal Ball says 10' = too many points.

Good Luck.

Millions at stake here for the Irish. A win puts em in the big bowl $$$, and no one to have to split it with. Now, there is the incentive my friends. I haven't played the game as yet, but will sleep on it .

OK, so if Notre Dame wins, they'll get a BCS bowl bid. No problem. But if USC wins, according to the media, Notre Dame still will get the BCS at large bid. I say that's premature. The polls are still a major portion of the BCS formula, and if USC puts a hurt on the Irish, they could drop in the polls to 15 or so, which I believe would take them out of the BCS top ten. I thought they had to be in the BCS top 10 to qualify for the at-large berth.

USC

USC

opened at - 9.5 in Vegas & has been bet up to 11.5 in some places.
Its not "Can USC score against NDs "D"?" its
"Can ND score against USCs 'D' ?

Should be a great game. I hope.

USC has won 6 games in a row ! But one of the games earlier in the season they went to colorado and swamped them 40-3.
Colorado managed 4 1st downs and 60 something yards in that game.
I didn't see the game ,but what the hell was that ????

They use to say ND when fav the line was 3 to 4 points higher then it should be because of all the ND backers. Here we have a case it starts out 9.5 or 10 + for N D and has gone to +11. Now that tells me USC is the play. That had to be some smart money doing that. If ND backers were all over this game that line would have held or dropped. For ND to cover there special teams will need to score a TD once again for them or I can t see the cover.
USC Special teams have let one TD score on them this year. They also have agood average of not allowing big run back numbers.
