The season statistics told Boise State men's basketball coach Greg Graham something he already knew ? his Broncos aren't scoring enough points.

BSU (4-3 overall) is scoring only 63.3 points per game, ninth in the 10-team WAC and more than 10 points below last season's average.

Graham and his coaching staff made some offensive adjustments last week that BSU hopes to unveil Wednesday night when the Broncos play host to Eastern Washington at Taco Bell Arena.

"We're just going to try to get out and run more," Graham said. "We're going to try to pass the ball better. We need to get the ball up and down the floor and attack more and spread it out."

The Broncos practiced last Thursday and Friday and placed an emphasis on cranking up their offense. Graham also said the team has added some things to help unleash leading scorer Jermaine Blackburn, who has made only eight of his past 31 shots.

"We're not scoring at the rate we need to score at," Graham said."We need to score more. If we could shoot a little better that would help some, but we need more opportunities and better opportunities to score more."

BSU is shooting 41.9 percent from the field, last in

the WAC and almost 3 percent worse than last season. The Broncos also have connected on only 33.3 percent from 3-point range ? fifth in the WAC.

Lane expected to play

Point guard Eric Lane, who has been out of action since being stabbed last month, is expected to play Wednesday.

Graham said Lane won't start and how much the sophomore will play depends on how he practices

Junior forward Kareem Lloyd, who was slowed by ankle injury last week, is expected to play. Graham said he hopes the weekend off gave Lloyd time to heal.

Graham said he hasn't determined which players will start against the Eagles.

Schedule change?

BSU is trying to move its Jan. 1 home game against UTEP to Jan. 2, so fans and administrators traveling back from the Liberty Bowl can see the WAC opener.

As of Monday, no schedule change had been made. There also is a chance it won't get moved as WAC bylaws require both teams to agree on the date change.

UTEP already has told BSU it is against moving the game. The school purchased its travel for Boise and wouldn't want to spend extra money for meals, hotels and change in ticket fees.

A compromise might be a time change. The game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. tipoff on Jan. 1. BSU officials could push back the starting time to allow more fans a chance to see the preseason WAC favorites play against the Broncos.

Three keys to a Boise State win

1. Crank up the offense.
Eastern Washington is allowing 74 points per game. There's no reason why the Broncos shouldn't put 80 or more on the board.
2. Contain Marc Axton.
The 6-foot-7 Axton plays four positions and averages 18.6 points per game. He needs five points for 1,000 in his career. Limiting the senior will slow the Eagles' offense.
3. Get Jermaine Blackburn involved.
Blackburn scores better when other players find him. When Blackburn tries to make things happen on his own, he's usually not as successful.

IE do you have an opinion on the total for this game. it seems like the over is a logical move if you think boise will hit around 80 pts. i haven't had the opportunity to see either team play yet, just looked at season stats. the total was 133 last i saw it. Thanks for all the articles, they're great.

not playing a total, its a close one projected to the line...3rd game since friday for eastern washington which might mean they could be vunerable to fastbreak pts with a little fatigue in 2nd half and c nelson still out for them....

what the coach wants and what that translates sometimes is different in the case of boise st..think i will wait and give them a game.

good luck if you play the game HoopsGuru.
