yeah, gw, not that flying before this incident was any great shakes, now it will really be a pain in the rear...
Glad I don't have to fly for work. A couple of leasure trips a year will still be aggravating from now on, though...

One quick question, whats to keep them from packing the crap in the checked luggage and detonatin it that way ?

They indicated that the plot involved mixing chemicals(each of which is benign by itself) together in the lavatory. I guess that's the difference.

I'm flying out of the country in 20 days and if i'm not allowed to bring a friggin' bottle of water on to the plane, i'm gonna be pissed!

Make sure you bring diapers on the flight...

i haven`t heard anyone on the msm mention the word "muslims".....

While it's not exactly "muslim", I turned MSNBC on a little bit ago, and in the first three minutes I heard one of the anchors refer to them as "Islamic fascists" (edit: it is now saying that on the graphic on the screen quoting Bush).

I have a buddy who lives here but is working in NYC right now. He flies back on Sunday. That should be a treat to deal with. Hopefully he'll be safe.

What is the reasoning for no Ipods?

thanks ,bj.......that helps a bit....

i was awaiting something along the lines of.........

"ha!....chimpy mchaliburton called up his puppet
monkey-blair, and said "yo, we gotta nail 'em
for what they did to lieberman".....

"let's fake a plot and boost the "mo-joe"poll numbers by twenty percent"..........

 i`m sorry....i can`t resisit...the 9/11 conspiracy crap is such a jaw dropper for me....sarcasm just isn`t good enough....

seriously,thanks for the info,bj...

i think we`re all happy that the 12th imam is,more than likely, very displeased....at least most of us...

i wonder if there`ll be anyone on planes on august 22nd or 09/11?....

looks like the islamofasciists are at it again and yet we still refuse to take steps in our own country to protect ourselves as 20 some odd abdu's and mohamed's are on the loose

how many more terrorist events will it take?

and one of the guys who actually got it in Washington was just ousted!!!!
OK, I give. What steps exactly are we not taking? Yeahs, it's obvious that we are doing nothing because look at all the hijackings still going on in the US. Please fill us all in as to what the US is still not doing....

Either that or why don't you specify exactly how they get it, they see it, the steps they've taken yet we "refuse" to. Educate us as to how Britain seems to understand but we (according to you) don't.

Or is this just a kneejerk response of yours?

"the bunker"
gardenweasel prediction.....i fully expect a full court press now by the traitorous msm to figure out how the intelligence community foiled this terrorist attempt.....then, they will publish the information to their terrorist heroes so they can change tactics.........

/just saying

btw.....interesting stuff off the net and the news......not worth a full thread...

1) just watched the british home secretary say that "this is not part of any war between civilizations." ...

2)the israeli`s actually killed iranians in the lebanon battle...

3)the israelis also killed a couple jhadis wearing full thrmal suits(to thwart night/thermal vision goggles)......

it`s a seriously hard slog in lebanon...

On the course!
TERROR IN THE SKY!!!!!!!!

Nice job CNN.

What a fking joke. When are we going to say "enough is enough" to all this bullshit?

Now, you can't carry on a bottle of water? It just dawned on these geniuses in the government that explosives come in liquid form? People have been flying for how many years with minimal incident, and yet we have to shut sown a system that has worked for 50+ years now?

Give us all a fukking break!!!!!

To see the footage of Mr and Mrs America tossing their shampoo and water at the gate of the airport, is a disgrace. The sham TSA agents standing there going through bags, and making people toss shit is an absolute crime, and yes......I do mean crime!

Another excuse for the government to line us up like sheep, and fleece us of our rights, in the name of "safety".

Twenty four hours ago, a bottle of water was a bottle of water. Today, it is the catalyst for a bomb. Wake up, America!

Again........for five years "terrorists" could have been marching these "bombs" on planes. Where have they been? How many planes have been brought down? None. Zero. Not one. Is it because of great homework done by the mutual government bodies across the lands? Maybe so. God bless 'em, boys!

At any rate, if the TSA, Homeland Security, or whomever, feels carry-ons are such a danger now, why the hell did it not creep into their minds until yesterday??????

What kind of idiots are in charge over there?

So, go ahead......Take away my soda......take the laptop, the cellphone, the shampoo. Take away the iPod. Because Lord knows.........if there really are terrorists planing to blow up planes, there's no way they will come up with a method to do it!

Totally agree, YYZ.

I have to wonder where we're at as I sit here watching Fox national f*cking news (i'm sure similar stuff on the other stations also) interviewing a 50 year old lady who had just bought a bottle of perfume at the airport and now is sad because she has to throw it out.

Seriously, is this how much of a hold that these 'terrorists' have over us? That a terror plot exposed in Britain can virtually bring our entire transportation to a grinding halt.

Lines a mile long because Joe six-pack forgot to throw away his 2 ounce bottle of shampoo in his dopp kit?

Question: Is toothpaste considered a liquid? That's a tough call. Just wondering.

Hopefully this is temporary until they figure out a better system. I can understand for now - think about it - all many airports know is that there was a significant plot in the UK that MAY have extended further. They better as hell be safe today. We should be thankful we're flying at all.

I don't feel bad for the poor souls throwing out shampoo and duty-free perfume. Sucks to be them on this particular day, but if that's the worse crisis they face this week then they have a pretty good life going.

If we are still resorting to a no carry-on policy in effect a few months from now, then we're pathetic and yes - the terrorist will have won. No laptop and water for me, I may as well just live in a prison.

That's the problem, Al.

You are buying into the illusion that we are "unsafe".

If we had planes blowing up every other day, it would be another story.

Well, it sounds like we were going to have some planes blowing up in a few days, and if they weren't acting on this info and precautions, I guarantee you I would be blasting away at their lack of preparedness and thoroughness until they know for sure (or as best they can) if there were/are more in the plans.

Sounds like a job very well done by whomever was in charge of this stuff. I assume it was the same people i have been pretty critical of over the past few months/years. I think erring on the side of safety and security - at least for a few days or so - makes a helluva lot of sense to me.

I don't 'feel sorry' for people losing shampoo either, but the absurdity of this is striking, imo.

As far as being thankful we're flying at all, I don't agree with that one bit.

I don't know how long they plan on doing this, but yeah, if it's still in effect in two months then we should just throw in the towel.

i guess they are damned if they do tighten security or damned if they don't.

i just heard that the pakastani gov't. was very helpful with this...good to hear. however, somebody should go into that mountain range that is between pakastan & afghanistan & carpet bomb it to hell.
