Thanks I've been saying it , but these know it alls tell me I don't have a clue. It's been brutal with public picking games with their eyes closed and winning.

I run my own version of the supercontest with about 100 friends. 80% of the people in the contest have never bet on sports before. Every year I have to write a paragraph describing what "ATS" and what the +/- before the number means to give you an idea of how public these guys really are.

5 of the top 6 people thru week 12 are in their first year of my contest and have never bet on sports before. All of them pick 3 or 4 favorites every week. I usually fade the consensus picks of the new guys with real bets but have stopped since I've lost my ass the last 6 weeks. I can only imagine what the books must be going through with teases on the big favorites.

Many Vegas Books To Close Doors

This season, football bettors have pretty much had their way. You don't even need to be a sophisticated handicapper to make money this season. "Every knucklehead with a $20 bill, is turning it into $200", said MGM Resorts sports book director Jay Rood. "I've never seen it worse than the last few weeks."

With double digit favorites burying the number game after game, it's impossible for the books to beat the public. "We make our bread and butter from parlay and teaser bettors each and every day of the year", said CG Technology sports book director Jason Simbal. "When public teams cover at a massive rate, we stand no chance".

In a move never before seen, Las Vegas sports books are shuttering their doors. Rood said, "We can't keep taking these financial beatdowns. All we can do, is cry 'Uncle', and tip our hats". The sportsbooks will be open to cash winning tickets, and to give refunds on any games not yet played. As to when the books might open back up, Jason Simbal said, "Probably never. Guys have too much information at their fingertips now, and we have no ability to counter that. I'm just glad that I can move back home, and start selling cars again. Some of these other guys will be out on the street, and that's a sad story."

Jay Kornegay of Westgate said, "We still have that stupid NFL contest going, so we will take the heat, and ride the season out before we close up shop." When asked how he thought the season would end, Kornegay said, "Not good. We can't hang a number high enough on some of these games. Cleveland goes to play the Chargers next Sunday, and I'm opening at -25. Is that the right number? I don't have a clue."

Early this morning, bettors were dazed and confused while wondering the sportsbook. "What do they mean I can't make a bet?", said T.J. Portnow of Perrysburg, Ohio. "This is insane! I mean, you know, how do they close? This is Vegas!"

If this truly is the end of sportsbooks in Las Vegas, we will at least have the memories of bygone days where the house never lost, and suckers strolled in with cash, and left with a story. This might just be another in a long line of the constant change that defines the city. When asked if he thought this was really it for sportsbooks, Jay Rood said, "I'm too old for this, and it's time to move on. I really don't give a (damn)."

Great shit in reply to threads like this. BTW, does anyone know a single person who is crushing the books this year? In addition, we never discus college football. Is Alabama losing outright similar to New England stomping on Miami?

i have a bettor he is up 12k on me.
bets all the good teams/favs. in nfl from 300 to a dime.
he isn't sharp or anything, he bets into bad lines and still beats me.
i can't lay off at this point I'm in to deep. just gotta hope the favs start going down.
and i can get a few dollars back.

the numbers i posted earlier in this thread are facts......47-24 67% betting top teams in nfl....no-brainer to take philly-n.e.-n.o.- etc. every week....
even the sharpest cappers around aren't hitting 67%

I'm sure books everywhere have lost money in the nfl this season....

whether you guys want to believe it or not...

you think everybody took Auburn? no wayyy... there are Bama backers across the nation.

I DO believe everybody took Pats... or didn't touch the game

For all these books to be crying in their beer is beyond belief to me.

Did all the players start winning at the craps tables, Blackjack and slots too?
bunch o'crap

I'll believe that the day they open their accounting books to public scrutiny...
in fact I'm gonna hold my breath til they do! or maybe not..

and have the sportsbooks been losing the last 10 years too?
Have they lost more $$ this yr than they made last season??

ALL this info on the internet... just which website do I look at that has all the winners??
I don't know anyone that has found it yet... and I don't know anyone that plays all the big favorites every week...
only one I played yesterday? Steelers... of course!

Bad weeks for Vegas usually mean, "we didn't win a lot."

I'm with you and I wrote that wrong. I meant Bama was heavy chalk favorite all over country. Very surprised by Steel City above as most books won the first 8-9 weeks of NFL and didn't even lose that much the last 2 weeks.

You obviously are talking out of your ass and have no clue. "Most books " won the first 8-9 weeks lol wtf are you talking about. That's total bs your making up steel city and every other person who knows will tell you besides the first few weeks it's been public cashing in for past 9 weeks. The ignorance of you people on here thinking you know but have no clue is annoying. And lastly the last two weeks have been brutal but again you know nothing and say they didn't lose much smh get a clue before you act like you know what you are talking about.

Go dawgs I hear you it's been bad especially recently. You don't need to know anything to be winning right now.

It's funny that you use Micha Roberts for your information on how the books are doing. He does a re-cap every week, and you post 2 write-ups about losses the books have had. Guess what? He writes that the books are 8-2-2 this year.

Take your bullshit, and pound it up your ass!

The books never lose in the long run. Maybe a couple days on football but they win it right back with other sports.. you gotta be a fool to think books aren?t making money during football season

yep, I believe this statement above is true!

Certainly if you have just a small group of players, (esp players that love the "local" team that happens to be on fire like Eagles, Patriots, etc) you could be taking it up the shorts.

We had 1 yr (among the 5 I was involved) when all the big faves were covering, instead of us cleaning up we were only winning about 30% of our normal amount for about 3 of 4 wks, and the boss was in a panic, but it eventually turned around. Just as i believe this will...

Steel, I can empathize with you... I used to have a handful of guys that I "covered" instead of turning in the plays... and whenever I covered it, they hit for some $$..
Whenever I just called the plays in, they lost their asses...

Felt like I was snakebit lol

Steel, I always respect your selections and wish u the best for a quick bounceback!

Do your family a favor and kill yourself.

That's all you have? You'd fit in well in the Politics forum, where guys yell stuff like that when they are proven wrong.

You have no fucking idea what you are talking about, but you just can't shut the fuck up.

Books are 8-2-2

You: "books are getting killed!"
