Bowl Trends the last 4 years

I went thru and came up with some numbers of all the bowl games for the last 4 years, heres what I found FWIW:

Overall Favorites Underdogs
2003 14 13
2002 11 17
2001 11 14
2000 8 15

I broke it down further b/c I remember something on here saying to take the dogs pre new years day bowl games and take the fav on the reamaining, here's that breakdown:

Pre New Years Day Favorite Underdog
2003 10 8
2002 6 14
2001 6 11
2000 4 12

New years day and after
2003 4 5
2002 5 3
2001 5 3
2000 4 3

are the trends reversing, or was 2003 an anomaly. I am going to dig a little deeper and look at teams and conferences see if anything comes up.

2000 number might be a little off due to I think the conferences were different, ie boise st played UTEP, now in the same conf, but I forget what it was back then, so I just put them both in their current conference.
