More bowlers coming out of the woodwork here at Jack's...:D

I avg 195 bowling once a week--used to bowl twice a week for years-- and I used to be the guy that had to have the newest equipment as soon as it hit the shelves. Not any more...:nono:

There are plenty of guys in my league that get rid of all-but-new balls on a regular basis and I buy balls for as little as 50 bucks.

I bowl in state, regional and national tourneys with the owner of the house I bowl at and he gives me a great deal on plugging and drilling those balls I buy from the guys.

Kind of embarrassed about my high game. 295--pulled the chit out of the last ball in the 10th and left the "Greek church" High series of 744 the same night.
Been bowling like crap lately. had a killer 522 last night....:mj02:
Per you 295.............just this past Tuesday night had a team mate shoot 293. He didn't seem nervous as he's a 210 ave, but he just flat out let the last one slip out of his hand. We all knew it immediately & were hoping for a 292 or maybe 294.
Plenty of guys around here that buy a new ball about once per month it seems. They are always eager to sel lthem.
I don't bowl as often or as seriously as I once did, so I get one or two new ones per year. I know a couple of guys on the Pro Tour and they usually come back loaded with excess equipment and they are usually generous enough to give them to me for free.
Talk about slump.............my current one is lasting well over a year. It all started when the last of the big hurricanes came through here and blew my regular 60 lane house down. Not totally, but enough to destroy evertyhing. So we had to (luckily found one to accomodate us) move to a new house where conditions are alot tougher...........if you don't throw a big 17-18 mph crank shot you are out of luck there. Multi pin spares are very difficult. So, average-wise, I am down about 25+ pins (and counting), I usually ave high 190's or low 200's. One bad thing leads to another . I'm developing many, many bad habits, tugging alot of shots trying to get too much on them, lapsing concentration, bad reads, jerky follow thru, etc. I could go on & on. I always had one of the smoothest shots/deliveries, everyone would tell me. I only have one 700 in this new place after 2 years. , I usually get 4-5 per season.
I even took 6 weeks off recently, unheard of for me. In my 6 games back I've got a 232 & 225 and 4 terrible 150-160's. Not good !! I just can't line up right, & now I am getting really pissed off, frustrated & aggitated, making many foolish mistakes , costing my team points and am considering(after 40 years) quitting the game. It is painful for me to bowl like that. Somehow, team wise, we managed to win the last quarter, putting us in the playoffs at the end of the season, however. Ahhhhh enough o fthis rambling, no one, including me, wants to hear it.

:scared

I,m sure your slump will be short lived. GL

At the end of 2007, the USBC completed a two-year study on bowling ball motion and how advanced, high-tech equipment may influence lane conditions and scoring. Establishing a Bowling Ball Specifications Task Force -- comprised of research engineers and volunteers from ball manufacturing companies -- the USBC sought to better understand the motion of bowling balls using scientific research and data analysis. Test equipment included, but was not limited to, a robotic ball-thrower, a Computer Aided Tracking System ("Super C.A.T.S."), 59 reactive resin and particle bowling balls from various manufacturers, and eight lanes in a climate-controlled facility.

The driving force behind the study was summed up by USBC Technical Director Neil Stremmel: "USBC is concerned that technology has overtaken player skill [as the primary factor] in determining success in the sport of bowling."

The USBC expects to complete data analysis and release study results to the public in the spring of 2008.

HELL
Slumps must be everywhere. I just felt the need to go get a lesson, even though I average 216 on Sunday mornings, 211 on Wednesday nights, and 202 on Thursday nights. I dropped about 5 pins the past 6 weeks, got sick with a sinus infection and it took 3 weeks to get over but of course I bowled through it. Lesson helped I think, moved up about a foot on the lane, worked on follow through, and most importanly balance.

Anyways, The Boys I am pretty sure I can get you a relatively new Morich Lev RG 15 lbs from my father for roughly $60 or so. You have entered in some of the contest I run here at MJ's, therefore if you still have my email and are interested let me know.

Just sent in my deposit for my team. They're wanting $250.00 already. Times that by 11,000 teams. They could just put in savings and clean up.

"Bout the only thing I don't like about the ABC(USBC, whatever). Collecting all that money so soon.

We go to Nationals every year in mid May. How you would go about trying to get shifts around the same days/times...

We send our deposit in every year as soon as we get done bowling Nationals the current year. And, I'm sure they DO stick that money in a savings account and earn a lot of interest...

I am left handed not a cranker though. Been having a great year so far. No 300's or 800's yet but I seem to have a couple of week span that I will have the first 9 or 10 in a row. Bowl 2 times a week and a every other Sat league.

Went to nationals twice, struggled there so I have a hard time justifying the cost to bowl like crap....
