So. Cal
had Utah st so not sore losing and this might not have made a difference.....BUT.....

on the 3rd to last play of the game utep completed a pass for about 8 yards to the 45 of usu and the wr clearly rant out of bounds with about 35 seconds left or so.......barely pushed out.

and the ref gave the run the clock signal???

utep took about 25 seconds to snap the ball (figuring they were out of bounds and threw and incomplete pass down the middle) then had 3 seconds left for the final play

those missing 25 seconds or so equates to maybe 2-6 plays depending on how they turn out.

I for one was happy as hell....and rewound it after the game ended to make sure I saw what I saw.

Unreal Utah state could have taken 3 knees. Every team I bet on would

technically they were never in a position to take 3 knees to run the clock out as utep has a timeout....and the clock stopped after the run to the 10 meaning they needed to run 3 plays.

now...if utep would have decided to NOT call a timeout then they could have but teams with the ball never assume that with a 1 score lead

You are right on one thing. They did keep the clock running ( for no reason) to run about 40 seconds off at the end of the game. But Utah St could have run out the clock by taking a knee. It was first down with a minute and change. Even if UTEP had called a timeout, They still could have taken 3 knees to win game.

they got a big run to the 10.5 for a 1st and 10 with 2:05 left, clock stopped to move the chains and utep still with 1 timeout......they could not have taken 3 knees to end the game unless utep passed on using their last timeout.

Clock stops temporarily to move chains. It was rolling again and utep wasn't using it. Even if they had used it . They easily run off 2 minutes with 3 knees. They scored on first down with 1:29 left in the game

they were down 1 possession with 2 mins left......why wouldn't they use their timeout?
