Big letdown with Haye backing out, but we still have Wlad vs. Chagaev Saturday. And a pretty interesting undercard that features Ustinov vs. Sprott, Cedric Boswell, Andy Lee, and Jonathan Banks.

We also have Arce returning Saturday, Ricky Burns in action on SKY Friday, and a good scrap on ESPN FNF between Beltran and Meza-Clay.

Plus, what we all have been waiting for, Ty Fields is BACK !!!!!!!!

To me, the most interesting match of the week is Diaconu vs. Pascal. Friday. Canada. Hmmmmm....

YESSS the great White Hope is Back! :00hour
Ty is a good guy and very likeable as person, but when it comes to boxing he reminds me of a less powerful, goofier Primo "The Ambling Alp" Carnea. (no disrespect to Primo Carnea fan from the 1930's)

You are right about the Diaconu vs. Pascal fight. It will be interesting to see what Diaconu has because he is an unknown to me.

So they got Marlon B. Wrong to ref the fight Friday between Diaconu and Pascal.
But, this time, both fighters are Canadian based.

With no American to screw, who will he side with?

Wladimir Klitschko vs. Ruslan Chagaev
maybe Chagaev at +525 or over 9 rounds at -135 hmmm...

I like to go for the dog, but I think if the fight goes over 12, it will be very difficult for Chagaev as the judges should be in favor or Wladimir.
maybe a small play?

From fightnews canada:

Shark shows teeth!

"WBC World Light Heavyweight champion Adrian Diaconu (26-0-0, 15KO) and contender Jean Pascal (22-1-0, 15KO) are at the final stages of their preparation in their respective camps. ?The Shark? is adding the finishing touches in Montreal, and Pascal in Florida. The Montrealer by way of Romania took offence to comments made by his opponent yesterday on Radio Energie, a local radio station. Pascal alleged the WBC gave him a gift by declaring him their World champion. His reply had a lot of bite! ?World champions do not receive championship belts as gifts, we win them! It takes courage, determination, desire and perseverance to become a Champion. I showed the world all those virtues when I beat Chris Henry in Romania and I am still undefeated. Jean Pascal cannot claim the same achievements.?

According to several local polls, the champion Diaconu is slightly favored to retain his title with a 54% to 46% edge. Jean Pascal is not worried about these results. ?It is normal that the champion is favored but I must warn those in the group of 54% not to bet too much money because they will lose!?

Wladimir Klitschko and Ruslan Chagaev square off this Saturday for Klitschko's WBO/IBF/IBO titles and Chagaev's WBA title, as well as the vacant Ring Magazine world heavyweight championship.

Wlad/Chag to be shown on ESPN Classic this wkend. Correct me if I'm wrong but didnt HBO air Wlad v Hasim Utterly Washed Up Rahman? I dont see it being too competitive but compared to what HBO has shown of Wlad in the past, Chagaev looks like a killer. I expect Wlad to jab jab jab jab then throw another jab with a follow up jab for several rds and finally lower the boom around 7-8. If Wlad allows this to go the distance then his stock plummets big time.

Fightnews is saying there is a good possibility that Valero gets Casamayor in Vegas in Sept. Hmmmm,
really really tough to pick the outcome on this one....young undefeated GENUINE beast w/100% ko ratio v 38 yr old pretty much shot and faded Casa. I'll take a stab and go out on a limb and predict Valero by stoppage.

what do u guys think the odds for Diaconu vs Pascal will be?

Diaconu -250 Pascal +180?

I was thinking more like Diaconu -130, Pascal Even. After Pascal's performance against Froch, I think he'll get more respect from the books. I could see him outboxing the relatively crude Diaconu. Diaconu likes to move forward, and the faster Pascal should be able to use his quickness edge to eke out rounds.

Good to see you A2C!
I gotta agree with you...this liine will be close.
Diaconu should be favored (home venue, true 175 pounder), but I give Pascal a shot here.
Pascal is a weird fighter....very quick reflexes and decent power.
But he has NO discipline in that ring - chin in the air, pulls straight back, lunges with hooks.
This fight is going to be very entertaining, I imagine. A come forward bull vs. an unorthodox swinger. I could see Pascal getting stopped late, but I can also see him being too fast for Diaconu. Diaconu REALLY faded badly against Chris Henry....

I also think Pascal will have benefited from the 12 rounds with Froch. That was a huge fight in enemy territory, and he made a good showing for himself. He should HOPEFULLY have grown from that experience as a fighter...

I think the line will be somewehere in between.

Diaconou is the true 175 pounder, but Pascal was heavier at the weigh in 7 days before the fight and he looks bigger.

Pascal is flashier, but as Ghost said, he makes mistakes and I think he's not as disciplined in the ring. Diacnou has an effectiveness about him.

I'm curious to see the line for this fight, but unless something weird happens, I will pass....

Pascal showed some toughness in his fight against Froch, so if the over line isnt inflated thats my play.

I think Diaconou by decision in a very competetive fight is the likeliest outcome, but I'm afraid the bookies will see it the same way...
