Very quiet weekend next week. Unfortunately, the Carlos Quintana-Danny Perez fight and the Mike Jones-Larry Mosley fight have both been scrapped due to injuries.

I guess the two big cards are the Brahmer card in Germany and the Romero-Rubillar match in Mexico.

On a side note, I hate to see Jaidon Codrington scheduled for Friday night. The kid is beyond shot - he is slurring every other word in his mid 20s. Someone close to him should try to pull the plug. He is going to get killed in there one of these days.

Is Quintana vs. Perez off, too? Jaidon seemed alright on the contender prior to Sakio. Do think his war with Bika ruined him?

Yes, Kramden, I have heard Quintana vs. Perez is off.
Boxrec is still listing it for Friday, but ESPN.com had this yesterday:

" Citing illness, former welterweight titleholder Carlos Quintana has withdrawn from his June 5 ESPN2 main event in Miami against junior middleweight brawler Danny Perez. "He had a fever for eight days and lost a tremendous amount of weight and was in no condition to fight," promoter Lou DiBella told ESPN.com. "We got a note from the doctor." Quintana was going to move up to junior middleweight for the fight. It's the second time this year Quintana has pulled out of an ESPN2 fight on short notice. He also withdrew from a Jan. 16 bout against Eromosele Albert, blaming a sprained ankle. No replacement to face Perez is set yet, but DiBella told ESPN.com Thursday night that Joe Greene might step in. He was scheduled to fight Saturday night on the Andre Berto-Juan Urango card, but his opponent fell out. Another possibility is Ishe Smith, the first-season participant on "The Contender" who recently signed with DiBella. "

As far as Codrington, the same night Bika KO'ed Manfredo, Jaidon fought a guy named William Gill. A journeyman who was 8-20 at the time.

Since the Bika-Manfredo fight ended early, Versus networked aired the Codrington fight from the undercard. Codrington and Gill were beating each other senseless for 8 rounds untill Jaidon stopped him. And he was seconds away from being stopped himself. Jaidon responds to punches worse than any fighter I have ever seen. His head is like a pinball. It was a scary fight to watch.

I'm not joking when I say he could be killed in there. I really hope a family member stops him before something bad happens. His reflexes are gone and he has ZERO punch resistance. The Green fight, the Bika fight, and this last fight with Gill were all vicious bouts.

The only other fighter in recent memory I can remember being worried for like this is Courtney Burton. Burton was ruined in the Ebo Elder battle, and then continued to be beaten badly in his next bouts.

I'm pretty sure if you spoke to Burton today, he would sound like Terry Norris or Meldrick Taylor. Jaidon is on his way - fast.

Good stuff, Ghost. Yeah, that's right, Green nearly took Codrington's head off and then the Bika fight was an absolute war. Destiny is funny, if the Chin Checker stopped Sakio in the 1st, and he was close, he might be a different guy today. But obviously he was damaged based on his fight with 8-20 Gill.

Agreed...ESPN came up with a good replacement on short notice. Looks to be pretty competitive...on paper at least. I would have taken Quintana at anything relatively close but I think he would have been a fairly wide favorite. This one looks to be just about a pic em... perhaps Molina a slight favorite IMO.

I'm not sure I would have taken Quintana myself
Dude has dropped out of 2 fights this year
And he is always complaining in interviews
Not sure he has the same desire he once had

Perez is a tough cookie and a pretty crafty vet
but Molina is vastly improved - he has put together two very impressive wins in a row
tough call in my book

Another fighter on his way- fast is new opponent (in place of Codrington) Antwon Echols. Well perhaps not as fast but he's had a long decline. Echols hasn't had a win in nearly 5 yrs and he's taking wayyyy too much punishment. Echols took a bad bad beating by Quillan 2yrs ago and has now suffered several ko losses. He shouldn'teven be licenced and no shock at all this is taking place in Minn.

Pretty quiet board this week.

So who is Wlad going to fight at the end of the mnth? I was looking at the hvys and there really isn't much to look at. Minto and Kevin Johnson have been mentioned :scared :scared :scared I hope there is no truth to that. Neither has a snowballs chance. I wouldn't be surprised to see Ruiz get the shot. I hate the matchup but perhaps the boxing world would benefit from Ruiz finally getting ktfo. Dimentrenko with the size could be formidable but I doubt we get that one. I'd like to see Aereola get the shot but I don't see Aerola taking it on short notice. That would benefit Klit to get while while he's not prepared. I'd love to see Valuev taken out of the hvy wt mix by stepping up but no way they let their cash cow cash out. Going to be interesting to see who gets the opportunity.

Back to betting...hopefully we get some new lines in a couple hours. I took Olusagun while it was still a bargain -565...now -900.
