happy bracketbuster day, everybody!!
villanova (+2) 2 units. this is tough. i've been riding georgetown 3 straight games now, and they haven't let me down. unlike the blind announcers in their win over west virginia though, i did see one glaring weakness. they really really struggled against the 1-3-1 trap. seemed like it was an adventure getting the ball across midcourt every possession. i wish i had time to better research this, but it seems to be 'nova is not afraid to throw a trap at you. i have to believe jay wright saw the same thing i did. 'nova won a georgetown earlier this year, forcing 21 turnovers. more of the same today.
ucla (pk) 1 unit. i'm starting to think lute olson is very overrated. all the talent they get every year, and they just don't put it together and play like a team. ucla plays like a team and they play defense.
missouri (+6) 1 unit. tough to take this weak missouri team. but they are only getting 6 against a top-20 team? looks like they want ok st money. if i'm not mistaken, ok state has dropped 5 of their last 6 ATS.
pittsburgh (-13.5) 2 units. you can't set this line high enough. washington has been a big disappointment this year. they finally started winning, then lost by 3 to washington state the other day. THEN they board a cross country flight to take on the very physical pitt panthers. a pitt panther team that was humiliated at home on espn the other night. i believe they are going to dominate this game from the opening tip to the final buzzer.
texas a&m (-3) 1 unit. actually looks too easy, but i think it's a legit line. a&m held ok to 34% shooting in their first matchup.
baylor (+6.5) 1 unit. texas has only won 2 road games all year by more than one point. too many points tonight.
appalachian st (+6) 2 units. mountaineers won the san juan shootout this year, beating virginia, ucf, and vanderbilt. not too shabby. they followed that up with a win at vcu. wichita state has been very disappointing this year. have to believe they'll be about as focused on appalachian state as missouri state was on winthrop last night.
holy cross (+5.5) 2 units. hofstra has a great 3-guard combo, but they lose focus sometimes. since they are coming off a 3-game stretch against drexel, george mason, and odu, they may not be very focused on holy cross. like the crusaders to take this one down to the wire.
i'll be adding a few more shortly.
