FOXBORO - In the wake of a shoulder injury sustained in the last preseason game, Patriots [team stats] quarterback Tom Brady [stats] said he ?expects? to play in the opener on Sept. 14 against the Bills.
Speaking during his weekly interview on WEEI Radio, Brady said he has bumps and bruises like anyone else, believes he?ll start the season on the field, and never once thought his status was seriously in danger.
Against the Washington Redskins, defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth drilled the quarterback, forcing him to land hard on his throwing shoulder. Brady missed the second half with what was officially called a ?sore shoulder.?
Brady was at practice yesterday, taking part in drills. It was not clear if he attempted any passes.
?As for my shoulder, I just fell awkwardly,? Brady said. ?Anytime a 350-pound man lands on you, most people would be a bit sore, which I was. (I thought), ?Damn, that guy was heavy.? ?
Brady is believed to be slated to sit out the fourth and final preseason game, giving him more than two weeks to rest his shoulder. He wouldn?t say whether he had an X-ray or MRI, but he did say the whole experience gives him confidence.
?I know when a 350-pound man falls on me,? Brady said, ?I can handle it.?
Scotty ,Id wish Ryan a quick exit to the season ,but for 2 reasons I wont.
