crunch

so your saying that Haynesworth drove into Brady like that on purpose ?

Again , I didnt see the play, but its hard to believe a Pro bowl player would stoop that low in pre season

Scott,

My only question would be 'why' is it so hard to believe? I think the film...slow motion...speaks for itself. It's bad enough hurting someone or possibly ending their career, but sometimes the big picture has got to looked at...and that's what the league is all about.

The QB is the most vunerable position on the field with someone coming at you almost every play and no place to hide. And like it or not they are the key to most everything that goes on...and there's just not that many real good ones to go around. If we start knocking them off right & left the game will get pretty mediocre in a hurry and we will all suffer in the long run.

Most players know this...and it's not like we're trying to reduce things to a wrestling match mentality. The other night I watched as a DL for the Texans broke thru the line and could have 'legally' destroyed Favre if he had wanted to...but no, he just made sure he was down and went on about business. This guy, or others like him, need to have a little chat with Mr Haynesworth about the big picture...that's all I'm saying Scott...:toast:

Theres been no discussion at all that Haynesworth hit was with intent in the Boston area,NONE!

How does a man who at 350pds stop his momemtum from attempting to make a sack?
He arrived at Brady just as the ball was being released. This talk is nonsense.

Ive seen players who were driven into the ground and from watching this play Bradys shoulder never was slammed hard enough that a seperation or a broken bone happened. Are people watching the same play I am!!

I maintain it was borderline legal. If he took one more step before planting Brady it would be illegal.

It should be a great night for a game and your daughter at least should get a kick out of it. I have not been to a game in years myself

Michael Vick cleared to play in 3rd game of regular season
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell says Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick is eligible to play beginning in the third game of the regular season.

Goodell met with Vick for 45 minutes Thursday before announcing his decision. Vick, recently signed by the Eagles, played in last week's exhibition game and was expected to play against the New York Jets on Thursday night.

Previously, Goodell said he would consider Vick for full reinstatement by no later than Week 6.

Vick was released from federal custody July 20 after serving 18 months of a 23-month sentence for his role in running a dogfighting ring.

"I think he's making real progress," Goodell said. "I think he has a better feel for the challenges ahead of him."

ESPN.com first reported the Goodell-Vick meeting.

The Eagles told The Associated Press that the commissioner met with Vick at the team hotel near the Newark airport.

A three-time Pro Bowl pick during six seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, Vick was a surprise signing by the Eagles on Aug. 13. He received a one-year deal for $1.6 million with a team option for a second year at $5.2 million.

Vick started practicing with the Eagles on Aug. 15, but did not travel with the team to its second preseason game a week later in Indianapolis because he could not play.

He played six snaps in Philadelphia's home game against Jacksonville last week, lining up at quarterback and receiver. He completed all four of his pass attempts, but the Eagles offense scored just three points in the possessions he played.

The Eagles plan to use Vick in their version of the wildcat offense, and coach Andy Reid has stated that Kevin Kolb remains the backup to Donovan McNabb.

Vick's familiarity with the West Coast offense has expedited his learning process with Philadelphia. He's said that he's content doing whatever he can to help the team win and wants to learn from McNabb how to become a better QB.

While McNabb is an excellent scrambler, he prefers being a pocket passer. Vick always has been far more inclined to take off and run than stay in the pocket and find an open receiver. His career completion percentage is only 53.8 percent, and he has more career 100-yard rushing games (8) than 250-yard passing games (among the lowest for a starting NFL quarterback. Vick has 71 career touchdown passes, but 52 interceptions.

The Eagles were heavily criticized by animal rights activists for signing Vick and dozens of protesters voiced their outrage outside the team's practice facility the day after he signed.

But the explosive debate that consumed the city upon Vick's arrival played out on a much smaller and subdued scale when Vick made his Eagles debut last Thursday night at Lincoln Financial Field.

An animal welfare event was held across town, while the local NAACP's planned march outside the stadium to support Vick did not materialize, although about a dozen members set up a table with banners supporting him.

Local animal rights activists have opted not to protest the player, but to use Vick's arrival in Philadelphia to spotlight their work and have asked the Eagles to support them. The team has been receptive, inviting several groups to a meeting at their practice facility a few days before Vick played to discuss ways to help, including the possibility of financial support.

Dogfighting remains a serious problem in the city. The Sunday before Vick returned to the field, police broke up a dogfighting ring and rescued several injured pit bulls
..........................................

McNabb used to be Vicks mentor when he was on another team.

Lets see how long it takes to have a big blow up.

On Vick

The good news is that he was able to stay in the game without a injury. But it was odd that Vick came out on the last series. I wonder if he went crying to Reid that he had enough.

The bad news is Vick continues to carry the ball with one hand like he always has. One outright fumble and the sack for the 22 yd loss he also fumbled but it bounced back in his hands.

Turnovers , careless play, and interceptions were always the issue for him in Atlanta.

He played like he just wanted to get out of there. Without the first string line Vick took some solid hits in the backfield.

He was mostly content to hand it off and get off the field. Seems to me he should have been trying everything he could to win the game.

Eagles fans get ready.

When Vick plays like this at home games he will be quickly booed and more than likely flash the double middle fingers.

Glad pre season is over though.

that was hard to watch

I didn't see the whole game but Vick looked very tired towards the end. That game was a killer for me. Oh well. I shoulda taken the week off like I planned to.

We had a good time at the game. Was surprised to see Hoyer play whole game.Green-Ellis solidified his roster spot. Was a good game actually.

As far as Patriot Place.I finally made it there and checked it out,as I was not consuming hardly any alcohol.(I had 1 draft beer.)

The most bizarre mall I have ever seen. Its a chain of stores, thats only excessable throu outside entrys. In otherwords there not inclosed from the elements, except for the stores themselves.

Must be hard to visit during the winter. There is stadium axcess from the outside mall. What a killing Kraft must be making.
