-- John Brady was fired as LSU's basketball coach Friday, his team struggling with an 8-13 record.

Brady was the third-winningest coach in the university's history. His 192-139 record included two first-place finishes in the Southeastern Conference and a trip to the Final Four in 2006.

But after that 27-9 season the team fell to 17-15 for 2006-07, with a 5-11 conference mark, and things got worse this season.

He criticized the 2007 LSU football schedule on Thursday, and was fired Friday. :sadwave:

I mean his record sucks but he did go to the final four 2 years ago...was that comment what sort of made the decision for them?

Not the reason he was fired, but seems like the final straw. The guy ran around baton rouge offending staff, players, admin, etc. for 11 years. He is prone to tantrums on regular basis, and his voice normally elevates when he isn't getting his way.

This season's performance was the result of a season-ending injury to his best player, Tasmin Mitchell, as well as an injury to Chris Johnson and the failure of another kid to qualify academically after the fall semester. Poor Brady was outgunned.

The main reason he was going to be fired at season's end is that he is averaging 7000 attendance. There is no doubt the comments about the football schedule expidited matters. I want the guy from VCU who used to coach under Billy Donovan....
