With the Braves acquiring Hampton, Ortiz and Byrd, look for them to trade Kevin Millwood.

I think he will either go to the Reds for Sean Casey OR the Phillies for a package that would include Travis Lee.

Why would this benefit the Bravos?

Two mediocre first basemen. Millwood is young and has potentially solid career ahead of him.

All of a sudden the two mediorce first baseman don't look that bad. Can you say salary dump? Thanks to AOL!

Salary dumping Millwood to a division contender like Philly might come back and bite them in the ass. Phillies have made big improvements this year. Millwood is, in my mind, a more solid bet than Hampton or Byrd.

I'd rank Millwood easily in the top 10 starters in baseball right now. Millwood was about as consistantly good the whole season as you could be last year. He was finally completely healthy last season and I think you can expect as good if not better of season from him this year.

Philly will be extremely tough this year. A lot was made with all the pitching moves the Braves made this offseason and a lot of people are thinking they improved (except for the Millwood deal) but I beg to differ......Hampton's done, As for Byrd we'll just have to see. I don't think he'll have as good of season as he had last year, but one thing that should help him is the ballpark's a little more pitcher friendly. Ortiz?..I'd rather have Moss.

Couldn't agree with you more. Not a big fan of Braves or Phillies. But the moves Atlanta made don't seem to make them any better at best; more likely they have gone down considerably. I think the Rockies are eating a lot of Hampton's salary, but can he help them? Maybe as a pinch hitter. They are saving money and hope that some of these guys will regain prior form.

Braves might not be where they've been but they've got some good talent that should be ready to go in 2004. Hopefully sooner if they just let them gain experience at the big league level, but a few guys might need a season of AA first.
