Still nothing at GCS

Only Surrey has pre-practice qualifying matchups available at the moment, so I'll start with these ...

Mika Hakkinen to beat David Coulthard -138
Hakkinen has out-qualified Coulthard here in all four years they have been team-mates, plus the two races this year when Coulthard has been poor in qualifying. On this track, that shouldn't change

Giancarlo Fisichella to beat Jenson Button -120
Fisichella has a good record on this track. He has finished 5th in qualifying the past two seasons and was 2nd to Schumacher in the race last year. The Benetton car will stop that happening again, but he will be the faster driver this week

And one outright, best current price @ Simon Bold:

Rubens Barrichello to gain pole position 5/1
Definitely only a value bet as Schumacher is the deserved favorite, but he was less than 1/10th of a second behind Schumacher last year and in the last race, so the price is somewhat inflated on that basis alone. Plus, this is his home track and if he can qualify ahead of Schumacher, he will be given free rein to race without team orders. The flip side is that hopefully this will also push up Schumacher's price for the race itself which he will win - Barrichello has only finished twice from eight starts in Brazil, so he is better for the qualifing bets than the race itself.

Will add more after the practise sessions. Over to you 1837 ....

Good to see you here Stanley!

I saw the odds at GCS but they were on for the beginning of the week only and didn't want to pull trigger without having any solid info. Oly and GCS should have match ups lines by tomorrow and i will be back here saturday morning or early in the afternoon with a complete preview and picks for the qualification and for the race.

I agree with you Stan on Barrichello to win the pole strictly as a value play. It doesn't hurt to be a brasilian too!

Good luck to you!

See you all tomorrow!

Interlagos circuit,Brazil

Length: 4,309 km

Nb of Laps: 71 (305,939 Km)

Best Lap:
M. Schumacher - 1'14"755
(2000, Ferrari)

Record Pole:
M. Hakkinen - 1'14"111
(2000, McLaren-Mercedes)

2000 Pole:
M. Hakkinen - 1'14"111
(McLaren-Mercedes)

2000 Podium:
Schumacher - Fisichella - Frentzen

This week, we have seen for the first time in F1 gambling a line that i can't recommend to anybody. Right now, we can find M. Schumacher to win the race at 3/5, -150 or -160!!!!
eek.gif
Sure he is as dominant as ever, sure his car is perfect but c'mon..... In the world of F1, we all know that a little mechanical problem, most of time, ends the race for the driver. It is not like in Nascar where you can get severals hits and still be there at the end! With this in mind, with the high probability of rain (again!) for tomorrow, i can't recommend a bet on Schum to win this race (even thought he should win it!). I will NEVER bet on a racer to win when the odds isn't AT LEAST at even money. Doing the opposite is to find a way to lose your profit in the long run...

Rain is more than probable for the race so i will remind you some guys to take a look at:M.Schum, Jean Alesi, Barrichello and Panis are all good in wet conditions.

GCS has still no matchups for the qualifying and for the race!?!? I think a little call might help!

Oly has the match ups lines and i like 3 of them so far but i'm going to see the results of the last practice before making them official.

see ya in 2 hours!

Wow! What an interesting practice session! I think we will witness an amazing qualifying session! Here's the first 6 drivers at the last practice before qualifying :
1)Montoya! (wanna put 25$ to win the pole just for fun? He is at 50 to 1!)
2)Hakkinen (finally a good result!)
3)Coulthard
4)Brother Ralf Schum!
5)M.Schum!!! (ferrari fifth?)
6)Frentzen

Barrichello was seventh...

Here's what i've played so far and the lines from Oly and GCS(yes, they are up!):

Qualifying picks:
At GCS
Montoya -150 over Villeneuve (2 units!)
Coulthard +115 over Barrichello
Alesi -110 over Button
Irvine -130 over Fisichella

Oly
Frentzen -105 over trulli
Alonso -230 over marques

total of 6 matchups

tempted by Hakkinen at +175 over m.Schum(gcs)
and by Panis +150 over trulli(gcs) but haven't pull the trigger...

Comments:
Villeneuve had problems with his cars during practice session and he doesn't like that track at all so Montoya at -150 is really my strongest bet righ now! Alonso at -230 is a quite unsafe (but Marques is so bad!!!) so play it for one unit or less as all the others!(except Montoya!)

Since 1996, the winner of the Brazilian Grand Prix as always won the Championship at the end of the season... (ok Schumi?)

Might be back later!

Race match ups:

Just one so far at GCS: Montoya -150 over Trulli

Trulli got lots of mechanical problems during
practice session and qualifying and on the other side we have a perfect car with the Williams B&W of Montoya who was great all wekend. -150 is a fair line and i put one unit on it. C'mon Oly, show us some lines!

I will write for sure a last comment (or picks) about that race after the warm up around 8h00-9h00 am

Good luck to all!

Made my results look rather paltry...

2-0 on the qualifying matchups
0-1 on the outrights
+2.00 units overall

Will be back in the morning with race picks

Here's the the warm up results (from first to 8):

1.M.Schumacher 1.15"971
2.Barrichello 1.16"145
3.Hakkinen 1.16"308
4.R.Schumacher 1.16"375
5.Trulli 1.16"449
6.Coulthard 1.16"679
7.Panis 1.16"711
8.Montoya 1.17"008

not surprise at all to see Ferrari with best results during warm up! The difference isn't bigger than in the previous races but they still dominating and unless a mechanical problem, M.Schumacher is on his way for a seven consecutive wins!

I've added two more match ups after warm up:

Panis +105 over villeneuve (OLY)

Villeneuve's car isn't running well and piss him off! He is so upset and frustrated right now that i prefer to be on Panis side!

Hakkinen -140 over Coulthard (GCS)

Finally Hakkinen seems to be a bit motivated! Coulthard doesn't like that track (said earlier this week that it was worse than last year!) and Mika would love to spoil Schum's podium so i take my chance with Hakkinen over coulthard

Despite the surprising results of Trulli this morning during the warm up, i'm still on Montoya -150 (GCS) over trulli. I expect trulli to not finish the race at all ! (mechanical problems has been common this weekend for him and Frentzen). If Montoya can race with his head and be more cautious than when he was in cart racing (always scare of seeing him bumping someone!), he should finish ahead of Jarno Trulli.

Let's finish this weekend with a bang!
biggrin.gif

Summary race match ups:
Montoya -150 over trulli (GCS)
Hakkinen -140 over coulthard (GCS)
Panis +105 over villeneuve (OLY)

Good luck to all!

hey guys, looks like there's some action in here...

I used to write a column on this stuff last year, unfortunately I no longer get paid to do that....

First two races of the year have gone well, but damned if I can find anything exciting this week.

This track normally has a fairly high attrition rate, and with the expected rain as well, the only value I could find was for an outsider to get a point and/or podium, Heidfeld 9/2 at Oly for a pt, and 25/1 at ITops for a podium finish.

Saubers are about as reliable as you can get (rebadged Ferrari engines), so just need some (bad) luck in front of them.

Rather drab lot of matchups on offer, will pass on them.
