The handover of sovereignty to the interim Iraqi government took place at 10:26 a.m. Baghdad time today, in a surprise move two days before the June 30 deadline previously announced by the U.S.-led coalition. After receiving the transfer document from coalition administrator Paul Bremer, President Sheikh Ghazi al-Yawar said: "This is a historic and happy day for us in Iraq."

And since Iraq never was ours to start with. Im not sure how we turn anything over. However most will say it's the smartest thing we did in 3 years. And for our part what ever that was I would agree. The thing that makes me feal warm all over is how much saver everything in Iraq and America now are.

Eddie,

...you're too much!!! LOL ;)

...I've got bar review in 45 minutes, but why on God's green earth are you up at this hour...? :D

For everyone else:

Pontius Pilate to Tiberius Caesar the Emperor, greetings.

Upon Jesus Christ, whose case I had dearly set forth to you in my last, at length by the will of the people a bitter punishment has been inflicted, myself being in a sort unwilling and rather afraid. A man, by Hercules, so pious and strict, no age has ever had nor will have. But wonderful were the efforts of the people themselves, and the unanimity of all the scribes and chief men and elders, to crucify this ambassador of truth, notwithstanding that their own prophets, and after our manner the sibyls, warned them against it. And supernatural signs appeared while he was hanging, and, in the opinion of philosophers, threatened destruction to the whole world. His disciples are flourishing, in their work and the regulation of their lives not belying their master; yea, in his name most beneficent. Had I not been afraid of the rising of a sedition among the people, who were just on the point of breaking out, perhaps this man would still have been alive to us; although, urged more by fidelity to your dignity than induced by my own wishes, I did not according to my strength resist that innocent blood free from the whole charge brought against it, but unjustly, through the malignity of men, should be sold and suffer, yet, as the Scriptures signify, to their own destruction.

Farewell,

28th March.

:)

...keep 'em comin' Edward, you mad man!!!

Eddie the American hater speaks again. Keep cheering for the terrorists and infidels.

Great day for the citizens of Iraq.

Now hopefully they can get those streets of Baghdad safe for the Iraqi like the streets of Washington DC, LA, and NYC are safe for the American.

Ya right Doc. You just want our streets safe like last year. Only 11112 died by the gun in our home land last year.

"Bremer hands sovereignty to IRAQ"
_________
I was watching CNN at midnight and Bob Schieffer from CBS news was on talking about the Iraqi situation. One interesting thing he said was that despite a symbolic show of turning over 'sovereignty' to the Iraqis, the USA will maintain over a thousand people in Iraq in the embassy to continue in some manner in helping govern Iraq. It's bigger than the Saigon embassy when the Vietnam conflict was going on.
