So. Cal
should there be some actual football action before he misses football so much and gets the itch to come out of retirement???

he had the perfect ending for me, a pick that cost his team the game.......which is exactly how his career has actually been the last 7-8 years.

Sources: Favre wanted to un-retire in May
Multiple sources confirmed to the Green Bay Press-Gazette that Brett Favre has inquired about returning to the Packers. According to sources, Favre was wishy-washy about retiring in the weeks following the Packers' loss to the New York Giants in the NFC championship game. Like the previous two offseasons, Favre told coach Mike McCarthy and General Manager Ted Thompson that he was thinking about quitting. The two previous years, McCarthy or Thompson -- and sometimes both -- made strong attempts to talk Favre out of it. This year, things were different, according to sources. Thompson hardly communicated with Favre in the offseason, which upset Favre, but McCarthy maintained regular contact with him. In March, when Favre told the Packers he was planning to quit, they made little or no effort to talk him out of it. So on March 4, he announced his retirement and two days later held a tearful farewell news conference at Lambeau Field. However, doubt about his decision persisted. Thompson visited Favre at his Hattiesburg, Miss., home in May and, according to sources, Favre would have un-retired at that point had Thompson asked him to come back. But Thompson never broached the subject with him. About two weeks ago, Favre called McCarthy to express his desire to return, but Favre was rebuffed. The Packers are reluctant to take Favre back for several reasons: They're concerned how it would affect Aaron Rodgers, Favre's replacement. They have already gone through an entire offseason preparing Rodgers, and they've adjusted the offense to suit his strengths. -- Green Bay Press-Gazette

He had a great year last year.Personally ,I dont think no one was gonna stop the Giants. They got hot at right time.Factor in some luck and you have world champs.

Local news here said they had contact with Favre and he said it is all rumors right now.

the news reporter then turned to the camera and said "so folks, he hasn't denied it"

news is slow around here.. they are looking for any story they can right now.

FAVRE CAN EASILY PUT PACKERS IN A BIND
July 3, 2008, 6:02 p.m.

Adam Schefter of NFL Network lays out the procedure that quarterback Brett Favre would follow if/when he decides to play football again.

Favre currently is on the reserve/retired list. To be activated from it, Favre only has to send written notice to the Packers and to the league of his desire to play. The Packers would then have 24 hours to reinstate Favre, or to release him.

The other possibility would be to activate Favre and then attempt to trade him, if the Packers don?t want him back on the team. But they would be required to use a roster spot on him until he is traded.

As to whether the Packers want Favre, Schefter reports that there are folks in the organization who go both ways on the issue.

As to whether Favre wants to play, Schefter confirms that Favre is training as if he?s returning.

If he chooses to do so, the Packers have limited options ? and there?s a good chance that they like none of them.

I'm born and raised in Green Bay. Season ticket holder. I'm 33 years old and #4 has been the QB since I was in High School.

Even I am getting sick of this. He is ruining his legacy by acting like such a bitch.

Be a man. Make a decsion and keep your mouth shut.

Honestly, I think all these rumors will help Aaron Rodgers. Who knows, maybe thats why he's doing it.

Its sort of taking the spotlight off him as well as giving the media an excuse if he doesn't fare so well early..."well, Brett was in the way"...

Overall, I'm sure its tough as hell to give up something you love that you've done your whole lilfe. Especially after having such a good year after everyone said you were past your prime. I also think that most of it is the media running wild with anything they hear. I'd say blame the media way more than blame Favre...

Where it is real F ing COLD
The Packer fans would love to have em back but I think that management would like him to stay retired. This team needs to move on without him, plus I don't think that they want his 12 million dollar salary. If he came back, he would have to play for much less.

Farve is an obvious narcissist who needs to corral his ego and move forward to the next phase of life. If he plays next season, it will likely prove to be a bad decision.........

maybe favre needs to watch that last game in the snow, again. he clearly did not want to play late in the game. i had the gmen and i knew my bet was golden in the 2nd half. favre was cold and miserable and did not leave it all on the field. if he did, than he should retire because that last pick was awful. anyway, great career but do all a favor and end the speculation. jmo
