Player Notes

Kyle Lohse limited the Pirates to two runs in 6 1/3 innings but took the loss on Wednesday.Advice: Lohse allowed a run on a Starling Marte infield single in the first inning, and another on a Pedro Alvarez solo home run in the second. He gave up 10 hits overall while walking one and striking out two. The right-hander had been hit around in his previous three starts, continuing what has been a tough year. Lohse will carry a 6.27 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, and 57/16 K/BB ratio over 74 2/3 innings into a start next week at home against the Royals.

Kyle Lohse was knocked around for five runs over six innings Friday in a no-decision against the Twins.
Advice: Lohse has now allowed five earned runs or more in three straight starts and five times in 12 starts overall this season. He did that just four times in 31 starts all of last year. Things are bound to get better for him eventually, but he just can't be trusted in fantasy leagues right now.
