Sexson may return to lineup Sunday
Jerry Royster has been filling out the Milwaukee Brewers' lineup card since opening day 2000, as both a bench coach and a manager. Since the day first baseman Richie Sexson arrived at the trading deadline that first year, the cleanup spot seldom has been a consideration.
It's always been: Sexson - next question?
Sexson, bothered by a sore left hamstring, missed his second consecutive game Saturday night, but Royster is hoping to have his all-star back in the lineup for a the series finale against Pittsburgh this afternoon.
"I hope he can play; we'll see," Royster said. "I'd love to put him in there, believe it."
Sexson, who has enjoyed excellent health since coming to Milwaukee, has undergone treatment for the past several days.
"He's quite busy," Royster said. "That's a little work for someone like him. He's never in the trainer's room. He goes in to play practical jokes on guys who are getting treatment.
"Hopefully, he'll be OK (today)."
