Colorado Rockies (32-60) at Washington Nationals (54-40) July 20 07:05EST

Washington's wonder season got a boost last night as they won the second of a three game set 4-ZIP against Rockies while Braves fell to the Giants. On Wednesday Washington looks to take the series while maintaining or extending it's slim 1 1/2 game N.L. East lead by hooking up Livan Hernandez (12-3 3.41 TM 15-5) against Jason Jennings (5-9 5.08 TM 7-12). Sportsboooks certainly think Nats will take the series opening Washington -190 favorites for the contest a number that has since hit -200. A lot of lumber too lay considering (a) Nats are now losing the type of games that made them famous early on - the close ones (b) Nats woeful offense has managed more than four runs only twice in the last eleven games including five one run losses while sporting a 3-8 mark over the span (c) Nats haven't exactly dominated Rockies last four season when playing hosts going 6-5. Chalk players may counter Rockies are a putrid 8-37 on the road and that Jennings comes in with a 0-3 record with a sky-high 7.40 ERA vs. Washington, however Jennings is off two successive quality starts giving up 2 runs in 14 innings of work and should handcuff Washington hitters. We also find Hernandez may be suspect as his pitch count has jumped last two starts giving up 2 Yard-Ball and 8 runs the most in any two game span dating back to early April. Hernandez ridding a two game losing streak, his teams (Nats, Giants, Marlins) 6-9 vs Rockies makes a small wager on Rockies a promising proposition.

Like I said last night ,The under is the best bet in this one. Think this one goes under 7, Under 7 is cash, still thinking. My #'s say the Nationals have scored >4 runs 2x the last 13 and have lost 9 of 12. /Big ?/ Is Colo good enough to get 3. If they get 3 runs the game may stay under ,cover the run line and win the game. Jennings has 2 of the 8 Colo road wins. The # that you have to be crazy to bet against is 8. Anyone have a feel for where the money is on the total and run line?
