He should have brought Britton in in the 9th with Donaldson and Edwin on 1st and 2nd and got lucky with the one pitch double play from Martin. "Buck has balls of steel for going with O'Day there" they said. That was bad managing too, he just got lucky.

Then he tried to double down with haggard Ubaldo in the 11th. If I were an Orioles fan (which I was last night because I had them on the run line) I would be calling for his head. That was asinine.

Ubaldo has been absolutely stellar lately ERA's in 2's.

I was scared seeing him come in...

Why didn't Wieters use more offspeed pitches ? Ubaldo barely reaches 90 and his fastball is a fucking very large meatball.

So after the first single I said ok throw offspeed down low and look for a DP ball...Why did Wieters offer Donaldson a straight fastball ?

Travis saw a meatball that missed than a strike on a offspeed pitch then a meatball for a single.

Donaldson first pitch was a meatball once again for a single next pitch after Travis hit a single.

After Donaldson's hit why didnt BUCK bring in this closer ? 1 out chance for ANOTHER DP.

So he didn't but why the FUCK did Wieters offer up a 3rd meatball IN A ROW to EDWIN off all hitters ?

So I blame BUCK but I also blame Wieters more.

If that game last night went the way Showalter was figuring it was going, and he brought Britton in the 13th inning to close it, think of all the praise Showalter would be getting now - "most all managers would have used up Britton in the 9th and 10th, and we probably woulda lost, good thing we he have Showalter"...

reminds me of Jack Del Rio's "gutsy two-point conversion" with less than minute left to beat Saints other week. Not many coaches would have done that, as kicking a PAT gives you statistically greater chance to win. Del Rio's play worked out and he was widely praised - but you know over half the Raiders fans calling him "gutsy" would still be fuming at his "stupidity" today if the 2 point try was unsucessful.

Showalter & Duquette will both be gone!! Dumb move on Buck's part, you have to win in that situation and go with your best, Ubaldo has been horrible for 80% of the season, Britton has been solid.
