Isn't Bobby Jindhal, the Republican 'rising star' Governor of Louisiana, one of the 5 or so Governors 'threatening' to turn down federal money? Another is Hayley Barber, Gov of Mississippi.

Now THOSE are two states who just don't need it.

I think they are both turning down money with strings attached--the unemployment benefits for part time employees inparticular.

They do not want to be forced to pay them after the funding runs out--as they say it would be too tough on their budgets.

Makes sense to me if your trying to maintain a budget--if you have attitude I'll take it now and worry about it later--you be in shape NY and CA are.

Rumor has it Chicago wants enemployment benefits for anyone who has ever applied for a job.
Stimulating isn't it. :)

Since Regan 3/4 or the wealth in this country has gone to the top 1 percent. I say we keep on helping them out and someday pray it comes trickleing down.:142smilie Heck why not, we have middle class citizens who would take a bullet for a guy richer then them. As long as this country has over matched citizens like Hedge and the rest of these right wing lap dogs, who get conned into this type of thinking a third grader can see, the disparity of wealth will continue at this alarming rate.

Chicago did not ask for unemployment for people that applied for a job.
Hard to believe one of our poorest states would turn down this money. Thats what Mississippi Gov says he's doing. Do they all still call Mississippi the trailer capital of the world?

When I say "rumor has it" I'm generally just joking DJV.

however these quotes from O today appear to be jokes but are not--and not taken out of context--

Reasons markets has been in shambles is everyone knows O is winging it day to day and hasn't a clue or a solid conviction on any plan other than socialistic spending.

Ok you ready---drum role

Obama today on budget deficits--

. "I refuse to leave our children with a debt that they cannot repay. And that means taking responsibility right now, in this administration, for getting our spending under control," he said.

"If we confront this crisis without also confronting the deficits that helped cause it we risk sinking into another crisis down the road," the president warned. "We cannot simply spend as we please and defer the consequences to the next budget, the next administration or the next generation."

Oh and by the way -in case your wondering on how he could possibly say he's gong to cut deficit in have you'll have to disregard his prior comments on getting away from fuzzy math/transparency--

His largest spending bill in history doesn't count as budget by him--It's "emergency spending"

ie--if he cuts budget by 1 million but adds 2 trillion to debt in 1st year--He-Pelosi and Reid will be pounding their chest-media will have tingles running down their legs and -- 1st year net will be increase in 2 trillion in debt--passed on to those he refers to in quotes--"the children".

it sounds reasonable to me .

Change you can believe in.!

Have you noticed how the last year Bush was not shown doing shit nothing.

And Obama is in the news everyday doing something. Having meetings, tackling the tough problems of America, and on and on.

Not sure if you noticed.

Obama has worked more in one month than Bush worked in a year.

Something good has to come out of this.

Keep the faith DTB , the worm will turn.

McCain presses Obama on pricey helicopters
Posted: 07:05 PM ET

Sen. McCain mentioned the hefty projected price tag for replacing the President's fleet of helicopters as the White House's fiscal responsibility summit ended Monday evening.

(CNN) ? President Obama said Monday he?s pretty happy with helicopter he has ? though the new commander-in-chief joked he's never had one to compare it to.

During a fiscal summit at the White House Monday, Arizona Sen. John McCain ? Obama's former rival for the White House ? pressed the new president on the Defense Department's plan to overhaul the fleet of 28 Marine One helicopters, a process that began early in the Bush administration.

The price tag for the new helicopters has been estimated at over $11 billion, more than the cost of Air Force One ? a cost that Obama said appeared unnecessary.

"The helicopter I have now seems perfectly adequate to me," Obama responded to laughter. "Of course, I've never had a helicopter before.

"You know? Maybe ? maybe I've been deprived and i didn't know it. But I think it is a ? an example of the procurement process gone amok and we're going to have to fix
...........................................................

Lets see. Bush thought enough of his 28 helicoptors to have them replaced without much thought at 11 billion . Thats dollars

How about a fleet of two and keep them well maintained and thats it. Saving about 10 billion

Use the 10 billion to put some jobs for America.

Geezz this really is so easy when you just find the bullshit spending of the Bush Cheney era /

its pathetic

--might explain the market tanking each day--

I would hope the worm would turn--were down to Clinton levels now--if next 60 days has equivilent drop we'll down to Carter levels.

Got another O recent quote to go with above--wonder if his recent rhetoric on debt had anything to do with hilary trip to China --I'm sure they as most --can seperate fact from rhetoric.

He said he would reinstitute a pay-as-you-go rule that calls for spending reductions to match increases and would shun what he said were the past few years' "casual dishonesty of hiding irresponsible spending with clever accounting tricks." He called the long-term solvency of Social Security "the single most pressing fiscal challenge we face by far" and said reforming health care, including burgeoning entitlement programs, was a huge priority.

Per dishonest accounting-----Oh and by the way -in case your wondering on how he could possibly say he's gong to cut deficit in have you'll have to disregard his prior comments on getting away from fuzzy math/transparency--

--rhetoric in lastest speach--
reforming health care, including burgeoning entitlement programs :mj07:

Fact He's already roled back all prior welfare reform-with increase in schips qualification--Billions for more food stamps and Medicade-unemployment for part time worker etc.

With these latest knee slappers going to have to retag him as Homey D Clown. :)

--almost forgot Hypocracy award of the week on O's Buy American team--

Bye, American

Most of the men and women President Obama has picked to help fix the American automobile industry do not even drive American cars. The Detroit News reports that only two of the 18 people named so far as members and aides to the task force own U.S.-made vehicles.

The co-chairmen Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and National Economic Council Director Lawrence Summers both own foreign automobiles. So does Management and Budget Office Director Peter Orszag. And at least two task force members don't own a car.
