Louisiana Officials Indicted Before Katrina Hit
According to the Bush hating, ultra liberal Los Angeles Times, federal audits have discovered dubious expenditures by the state's emergency preparedness agency. They are awaiting trial on allegations of waste, mismanagement and missing funds. In March, FEMA demanded a repayment of 30.4 million that was not used appropriately.
Most of the money that was unaccounted for was sent to Louisiana under the Hazard Mitigation Grant program that is designed to help states retrofit and improve flood control facilities.
An example of the corruptuion, certainly not a stranger to Louisiana, is a grant of 40.5 million sent to Louisiana mostly for the Hazzard Mitigation program. Of the approximte 16 million awarded awarded to subcontracters, receipts were NOT AVAILABLE for 97% of the spending.
Another 10.7 million allocated to buy up property in high risk areas was given to local communities who determined which property owners would benefit.
Now before Stevie D(elusional) gets his panties in a knot over this let me explain 2 things --
1. Haliburton did not get any of the contracts
2. The Michael Brown involved in the corruption is not the Michael Brown who was former FEMA director.
I wonder why this is on page 17 and not page 1?
I wonder how Stevie D(elusional) will spin this one as W's fault?
