Darn good idea lets talk and try not to be fighting to differant places at once. Lets just be America. I dont believe we need to act like the Roman Empire. Lets just stay a Republic.

You worry too much djv.

I heard that most of Bush's staff is on pins and needles when they are around him. Got to be the worst boss to have in the world. If he told you to make it happen, I don't think there would be any question whose head would be on the line.

I do have a question for you djv.

Do you think it is possible for Bush to pick up the phone and talk to Saddam directly ? Do you think they have ?

What do you think they would say to each other ?

Just wondering.

that was kinda a mean spirited retort.

that does not sound professional or like two leaders of countries.

I think it may go something like this.

Bush Well you sure have gotten in the shit now Saddam.

Saddam What do you mean in the shit Bush.

Bush I mean we got you surrounded dont you see that or are you just stupid ?

Saddam It dont matter all my people will be fighting you in the streets.

Bush I dont think they will fight much when you are gone.

Saddam Oh did I mention that you may need them suits you guys wear on the battlefield.

Bush DID I MENTION HIROSHIMA NAGASAKI ! CLICK

We are living in a frightening world right now. I wonder how
Al Gore would have handled all of this mess ?

Perhaps Bush should have Jimmy Carter negotiate with N. Korea again since he did such a good job when Clinton sent him to speak to NK in 1994. He came back & assured everyone that NK would not develop nukes.

Right Here
North Korea is Clinton's mess, Bush inherited it. The 1994 agreement was a cop-out, just enough to keep the situation off of the news.

The way I see it.

North Korea: A truely insane leader that lets the general population starve and freeze to death to the tune of over 300,000 yearly. Spends what little revenue country generates on military due mainly to the fact other counties have sent aid in the past. Realized of late that shit would no longer float. No more free lunches from US. Last resort is (a classic case of letting alligator mouth overload hummingbird ass)threatens us with war if we don't return to supplying them aid. Only prob is he failed to understand is they are no direct threat, and that ploy won't work with this administration.

US: Cancel free lunch. No need to engage in any military activity as we could totally collapse their economy without firing a shot.
-----and would not be inclined to get involved with their being China's neighbor.

China and Russia They don't want to see N Korea build further nuke arsenal any more than us and admit it. In fact if push comes to shove China will not permit it.However while both attest to that they have yet to step in ,in hopes we will bow to pressure so their economy's do not have to foot entire bill of aid.

South Korea: New leader I deem wishy washy but will wait and give him a chance. Country somewhat divided on US. You have the old timers that are pro U.S. and young generation that have been demostrating against US especially after death of 2 young girls. Main bitch is US soilders get drunk and abuse locals. Probably some truth there, however could bring them into line easily by simply saying,OK you don't want us here,ok we'll leave. you would hear unanimously--but-but-but wait a minute.

What I think outcome will be? N Korea has figured out what worked in 92 won't work now. He has no choice but to come around as he holds no cards. If he is truely suicidal,China will step in and bitch slap him.

Hey DJV Wanted to thank you for dandy little angle in the bowl section this year. Quite a lucrative little tidbit. I have stored it an will remind you if you forget to repost it next year.

But Washington is holding back some information to see if inspectors ?are able to handle it and exploit it. ... It is not a matter of opening up every door we have,? Powell said.

That word exploit just doesn't sound right but I guess that is USA doing what we do best.

al gore scares you huh. I think we know why Gore decided not to run again in 2004. Too many headaches running the free world.

I'm sorry for making that statement to you months ago about you being a ten dollar wagerer.

Can peace not be celebrated in some way ?

S A, How about peace be with you brother.
Al Gore what would he have done. Nuke-em, no talk? Does it matter.
It seems we could go way back when asking Why Job was not done right to start with.
WW 1. The world just did not make Germany stay in line.
WW 2. Seems we may have got that right. But look all the trouble some of the deals made then. Do they cause us problems now. Yes! In fact they have been since end of that war.
Korea. Fight like hell for 3 years then draw a line in the sand. So in away it's still not over. For sure some those 80 year old generals from the N Korean army think we should be still fighting.
Nam. it's over but at high cost to us. But Nixon was he wrong in pulling us out. Don't know. But I do know it's all one country and its not a free one. Someone else won that one.
1991 War, Bush pulls out about 3 days to soon. This is many many peoples opinion. So do we have to fight again. Guess we will know in about 30 days.

...that wasn't me, Scott. you must have me mixed up with someone else...and if not, you were simply mistaken.

...as for Big Al, I dated his oldest daughter when we were younger, but she married some Harvard Medical Grad, go figure. ...anyway, I shiver when I try to think of how ole Al would handle foreign relations. ...he's a good guy, but just not cut out for that IMO.

...and as for Peace being celebrated, I'm all for it. I certainly don't harbor any hard feelings towards you...just think sometimes that you fell in the deep end of the pool without your floaties. :p

When I am not sure it is easier to apologize.

Since you mention it there was this time when I was
8 years old and I went to the main city municipal pool with some friends. For some reason some junior high kids dared us to jump off the high dive. They called us names and our group was taken aback by their rudeness. The statement made was we bet five bucks that not one of you 8 year olds can go off the high dive.
Hey five bucks was alot of money.

So in a discussion amongst ourselves , I was picked to go for the cash. They said it woundn't be so bad and after all it would be good for the neighborhoods reputation if one of us went off high dive. And anyways we could go for ice cream after our swim.

That all sounded pretty logical to me. No one asked me if I could swim or not and it didnt look that high up to me. I figured I could use my dog paddling skills with no problem.

Looking back on it I think it was a 20 foot drop off the high dive.
If you got in the line and got to the top and then had to make the walk of shame down the stairs, you got your name put in the paper as a coward or something. All that I knew is that it wasn't going to happen to me.

The view from the top of that high dive was magnificant. You could see the whole city skyline. The water was so blue it didn't look so high up.

And there I was not knowing how to swim with a bunch of unruly swimmers behind me telling me to just jump. So I jumped.

I can say looking back on it that it was not the most gracefull of jumps and towards the end I thought about changing from a jump to a dive. That was a big mistake. I hit the water like a brick and remember thinking that my life as I knew it was over.

I sunk to the bottom at about 15 feet deep.

As I lay there unconscious, I heard music and saw white lights.

Just then, I thought I heard a voice.

Scroll down ........

The voice said. GO AND HANDICAP TITFD PLAYS and SLAM IT DOWN AND I MEAN HARD!

I was pulled from the pool by a blonde lifeguard and the first thing that I saw when I came around was her lips on my lips.
Was I in heaven ? Is this what happens when you get to the hereafter ?

And what was all that about the TITFD plays ...hmmmmm

"Negroponte said the United States was strongly urging the inspectors to ?find a way? to interview Iraqi experts and scientists outside of Iraq, where government minders are always present.
Blix stressed the problems of intimidation affecting the interviews being conducted in Iraq and said the inspectors were working on the practical aspects of out-of-country interviews.

Earlier, a Swedish diplomat told Reuters that his team would begin interviewing scientists and other Iraqi experts within a week. He did not say whether the Iraqis would be taken out of the country."

Here is a idea. Bring the scientists to the UN with their families and let them talk openly. If they say things that puts them in danger then they can be offered numerous countries from which to choose until its safe.

It seems easy enough. The trip out of Iraq for a scientist would be perilous it seems.

War will be very bad any way we look at it. MSN article states:

"In a report last November, Medact posed these scenarios:

Airstrikes: U.S.-led bombing hits Iraqi weapons stockpiles, releasing chemical, biological and possibly radioactive pollutants. Health and water infrastructure is also hit, leading to epidemic diseases.

Securing the oil. U.S. troops invade to secure the oil fields around Basra near the Persian Gulf. Combat in urban areas leads to heavy loss of life, while sabotage of oil wells spills crude and endangers health.

Securing the north: U.S. troops invade Iraqi Kurdistan, Iraq responds with chemical and/or biological weapons. Sabotage of oil wells spills crude and endangers health.
Battle for Baghdad: Airstrikes and ground combat in urban areas lead to heavy losses.

Saddam?s last stand: Chemical and biological weapons are used in and around Iraq or against Israel. Israel, the United States or Britain could respond with a nuclear strike. A Hiroshima-sized bomb ? a relatively small weapon by modern measurements ? could kill 66,000 to 360,000 if dropped on Baghdad. A large thermonuclear weapon could kill 306,000 to 3.6 million."

SA, looking like they cant find the smokeing gun. Give it another 30 days. Unless Bush can tell inspectors where all this good stuff is. Well may just have to bring all the boys home. One of those talked to soon deals. If that happens will we look like some real dum chits. Forsure Bush will only get lip service from that point on. If he Bush from his sources who ever they are has got the goods on Iraq. Better show it soon.
