I think Presidents should have to make all of their pardons in the first 90 days of a term.

Can a President issue a "signing statement" pre-emptive pardon to himself, or his puppetmaster before leaving office? That would be a smart place to start for G-Dub.

He pardons drug dealers, but not the border patrolmen who attempt to stop the trafficking.

yeah its sickening isn't it....i never understood why presidents pardon people on their way out of office....nobody should get special treatment for breaking the law....

AR, let me know what shrink you have been seeing for your constant bashing of the left and blind support of Bush. Perhaps your shrink will slip you some $$ for the referral, or maybe we can share time at your shrink. Your case of moonbat syndrome is not quite as severe as Weasals or Dogs that Bark, but your not far behind.

When did our society become so 'black or white'?

It seems most folks these days blindly back their party regardless of the situation.

Am I the only one who feels that ideas from both sides will aid our recovery in the same manner that ideas and actions from both camps led to our recent slide?

Cie,

Your exactly right, as I can think of numerous standup GOP gals and guys that I admire and feel they could lead the country. McCain (sans Palin), Susan Collins, Chuck Hagel, Richard Lugar, are all Senators that have shown to have the ability to work in a non-partisan manner, and even call out their own party.

My apologies to yourself and AR for involving myself in matters that do not concern me. I may be wrong, but I have not seen AR bash the left or blindly support GWB.

It is becoming more clear by the day that this entire forum has gone loony. Anyone who does anything but blindly blame GWB for everything wrong in the modern world is instantly labeled a no-nothing southerner or a neocon america-hater.

FWIW, I hope O does a nice job, and I am thinking that he will. I will say that of all of his promises, I am glad the first one broken appears to be the postponement of major tax code changes. This was one of my major concerns with O from day one. Another concern that I had/have is the blind following that O has accumulated. I feel the fanatical approach most of us have taken in recent years it is very unhealthy for country.

You seem like a solid guy, and no doubt are entitled to your opinion, but do you honestly feel that the "left" has all of the right answers while the evil republicans are plotting to take food from your table? Sounds a bit kooky, no:shrug:

Glad to hear it. It's us against them, MC. Left and right led us here, and it will be both sides that lead us back. IMO, it is unfortunate that a third party stands no chance in these media-driven times. Happy Thanksgiving, sir:toast:

Cie,

to address the first part of your comment regarding your belief that it is a fanatical approach people are taking by backing Obama. I thinkthis is completely of base in your assumption, as I think it has more to do with people hurting right now and fearing that there jobs could be going. Bottom line is that right or wrong Obama offered a new direction to the failed course of the last 8 years. Whereas, the way McCain presented himself as being aligned with pretty much all that W had believed in offered people very little change. Is this the correct perception? I dont believe for one minute that McCain would of went along the same extreme course that W has taken this country on, as this would of gone against all of McCains past track record. McCain hurt himself with his selection of Palin with moderates and undecideds and when he aligned himself with the same people that ruined his 2000 hopes with vicious smears and lies, I think that made myself and others no longer consider him a maverick.

Your 2nd point

No the left by far doesnt have all of the answers and in my position in life it would not make a difference which party runs the country, as it will have no direct correlation to my profession or my income. I have never once that I can recall, stated that the GOP is kooky southeners, but it is my belief that the GOP has been hijacked by the extreme elements of the GOP and moved drastically away from the origins of the core of beliefs of such notables as Barry Goldwater and William Buckley. If anything, I believe that both parties sorely leave alot to be desired, and I am for the creation of a spending cap to allow other parties to emerge as viable options, so that Americans have more choice come election day. As far as my support of Obama, as I saw it there was a choice of following four more years of failed policy or going in a new direction with Obama. As far as my political beliefs, I can tell you that the past election my voting card pretty much was 55-45 in favor of GOP players especially at the local level. Was I right on Obama? Time will tell, but this country in my opinion could not withstand four more years of inept policy.

Thanks for taking the time to post this response. Just so you know, I did not intend to imply that you had personally bashed the south or members of the right outside of GWB. It's just something I've noticed happening more and more on here, particularly from the more mentally challenged members of the forum. From reading your post, it is clear that you and I are definitely not far apart in our beliefs. I appreciate your input in this forum, just as I have always respected your input in ncaafb and ncaabb.

Here's to a prosperous 4 years for the USA:toast:

If we're ever in the same town, the 1st round is on me. After that, you can buy drinks with all of those ncaafb earnings:toast:

This whole pardon thing is a complete non-issue. Who cares? Presidents get to pardon people. Get over it. The Man catches folks, and The Man cuts them loose. Its a beautiful thing. :mj06:
