Acually the bj and cigar stuffing of intern was 2ndary--the trail was about Flowers are one of others--which Slick paid off later to avoid civil suit where the Dems couldn't protect him--

but--

Thought we were talking bout hilliary--along with 50 I don't recall on the one occassion what about the deal on the white house staft--where the idependent council pussed out on perjury charges on hilliary and instead--said her testimony was "'factually false'

Thats two cases now--want some more??

Aupice
The answer to your trivia question the payoff on Rich was family affair--His council on appeal was no other than Hilliary's brothers--but when it was discovered that practically every one in Clinton family was being paid off on pardon (no quid pro quo Bill said) Hilliary made her brother pay back the $400,000 he had received--any more questions;)

They put Hillary thru the wringer with that special prosecuter and he couldn't get a thing on her. She must be the most clean person in DC.

And whats with Libby being council for Rich. Terrible.

couldn't get a thing on her--the reason they didn't persue was 3 key witnesses were Clinton appointees--

Hillary Clinton gave "factually false" testimony about firing the White House travel staff, but not enough to warrant indictment, independent counsel Robert Ray has concluded.
The first lady had wanted those longtime employees, who arranged travel for reporters accompanying the president on official trips, replaced by a private firm that she sponsored.

According to Reuters news service:

In concluding his 243-page report, Ray said the evidence he would be allowed by a court to introduce in a trial was insufficient to convince a jury beyond a reasonable doubt thatthe false statements were made with the criminal intent required to convict the first lady of perjury.

Yep shes clean--whitewater gate-travelgate-file gate-cattle gate ect ect and she wasn't even politician then--

On the issue of Libby/Rich since everyone likes to bring that up--maybe we get get report from some on what particular incident he was his defense council--Than give us a liberal comparison between someone being a defense council for client on tax evasion and someone pardoning a "now convicted" 10 most wanted felon for cash to his campaign-his wifes campaign-and other family members.

only a liberal could find a remote comparison-but then of course when you have actual "supposed" attorneys and others who can't distinguish between perjury and a blow job--what can one expect :)

Dogs, nobody has the case files to definitively tell you what Libby was hired for, but nobody can definitively tell you what Clinton's brother-in-law was hired for. It's all conjecture and connect the dots stuff. But he worked for him from 1985-2000 so he knew him more than a little bit. Libby was not a tax attorney so defending him on tax evasion wouldn't have been his forte. He also knew all the players in the pardon. To think he had zero input or influence on the pardon would be sophomoric.

But comparing Rich's pardon to Libby's is meaningless. What infuriates non-right wingers about Libby's pardon is Libby's coverup for Cheney and Bush. Name another president that pardoned someone to coverup their own deeds. That in and of itself is an impeachable offense besides just being morally wrong on so many levels.

GOP lawyer: Facts 'misconstrued' in Rich case

Lewis Libby, Vice President Dick Cheney's chief of staff

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Vice President Dick Cheney's chief of staff testified Thursday he believes prosecutors of billionaire financier Marc Rich "misconstrued the facts and the law" when they went after Rich on tax evasion charges.

The testimony from Lewis "Scooter" Libby, who represented Rich dating back to 1985 but stopped working for him in the spring of 2000, came during a contentious, hours-long House committee hearing into former President Bill Clinton's eleventh-hour pardons.

.

Actually Bush Sr. Pardoned Casper Weinberger, I think, Maybe it was Poindexter, from testifying and in fact pardoned himself as Casper would have testified against Bush Sr. Just like this case. Libby lied and in fact stonewalled the investigation that would have led to GW and Cheney.
As for Hillary, they went after her with everything they had and couldn't put a glove on her. You Neocons like to make up your own history but you can't show me anything that they got on her. Only a neocon could twist the facts like DTB.

How about this for simplifying the situation, Wayne? Rich should not have been pardoned...Libby should not have had his prison sentence commuted.

Fair enough? Why do I already know the answer - if there ever comes one? We all know the difference, and the importance of what the two did - but some can admit that - others just want to deflect from the current situation back to rehashing...

The fact still remains that special prosecutors, judges, anyone with any authority to mete out justice, convicted Hillary of anything. I know that eats away at you (not to mention your weak case, counselor) but it remains the truth of the matter.

But I can certainly go along with Rich not being pardoned - no problem. And Libby should do some time - no problem. Unless your President wants to take care of the mess for you. Quite simple, really.

Funny we talk about a Pardon and Dogs obsession with neocon talking points and the Clintons takes the target off of Libby. JUst 101 in the divirsionary tactics of the neocons except this time they jumped the gun because they forgot about Libby's counsel to Rich.
Lets not forget that Bush stood in front of the Country beating his chest saying the people responsible for this will be brought to justice. For one of the rare times i believed him because i think he had no idea what Cheney was doing behind his back. Then when it all breaks open Cheney has to crawl back to Bush and find a way to pardon Libby. If you watched Bush news conference on this matter i never saw him look more uncomfortable. Blinking like a wild man, lips quivering. He knew these guys put him in a terrible position but the puppet that he is, he had to succumb to that bum Cheney. Im wondering if O'Reilly will have that woman on Fox analyzing Bush body language.'? Or does he just do that with democrats? Stevie its sickening that you have to bring up Weinberg's pardon just to further a point. This is what these rotten pricks do to take us off topic. They are experts at it but I'm not sure Dog's even knows they do it. He just follows along like a good little clueless puppy. We are now what 16 years back from something that happen the other day? Not sure dog can go back any farther because there were no Clinton's in charge back the.

Sponge, if you remember the way they went after Hillary and they couldn't charge her with anything. Yet, this neocon puppet comes out and brings her up like she was found guilty of something. Dogs, they spent and stole millions and came up with nothing. Just like their search for WMD's nothing.

Sure i remember they tried everything they could because these are power drunk thieves and as you can see the history before us they stole a couple of elections and now are doing a nice job of seperating the wealth for a select few. Bin Ladin one time stated that Bush Sr came to Saudi Arabia and was treated like a rock star and finally the people of Saudi Arabia thought the Gov't would gets its act together and stop oppressing their very own people. Bin Laden said that Bush Senior saw it another way and loved the idea of the separation of wealth from the people. Bush Sr. is as dirty as his son just a little smarter at hiding it. It is really sad to say this but that nut case Bin Laden seems to be the only one who knows how to tell the truth. When you are power hungry you will do anything to stay in power. Two months before the 2nd crooked election with Kerry i told my brother that Kerry has to win Ohio. I heard what that crook from Die-bold said about "guaranteeing a Bush victory" Low and behold its Ohio this time that is having the big hold up. Once i saw this hold up i knew it was over. Oh and Kerry and Edwards just folding up like a cheap tent was priceless. You think those crooks Bush and Cheney would have folded up like that? Maybe the Neocons are right and we should just make a lot of money off of stupid people. Just step on their throats and make money off of their misery. Just scare the shit out of them using the fear game and when they are vulnerable just take their wallets and rumage there bank accounts. There has to be some kind of operation out there were i can become this ruthless and self centered. Somehow i was born to feel guilty for these people like most others.

Stevie, i think have a great idea i think could make us both millionaaires. it will set the country back even farther and more quickly so if you want to sell your soul let me know. Not sure I have the gut instincts to do it and from what i have witness from your posts, im not to sure you do either. I would post it but one of these rotten neocons would run with it without a blink of an eye. I have to get that operation. This guilt crap is slowing me down in life.

Now after having to think about it and do a little research on your own--appears you agree with my initial statement--

"Can't believe the hoopla for political pardons which been going on since Washington and the Wiskey Rebellion."

They have all given political pardons since day 1--so what.

but still looking for the 1st other than Slick to pardon a 10 most wanted or disfunctional family member.

--can you hunt any history up on that?

No. I'm saying Libby had a hand in it. Indulge me for a second. If Rich was hunting for a pardon, who in Washington that was connected to people in the political circles would he approach? His attorney for the past 15 years who knew everyone needed in Washington in getting him a pardon, or some guy out of left field that is related to Clinton? How in the heck do you think he got info about Clinton's brother-in-law even being an attorney? It had to come from Libby. The info had to flow from Libby about what to do. Had to.
If (note I'm saying if) Clinton's brother in law was the conduit for the pardon, someone had to put the two together. That's what attorneys often do. it's how they succeed. Libby was Rich's attorney for 15 years, he had to be approached by Rich about this at some point. Libby was up to his eyeballs in this thing.

BTW.....I completely agree with your take on the Clinton pardons. He should have been tarred and feathered and shipped back to arkansas. Seems everyone in America loses with these presidential pardons. I wish they'd abolish them.

And this illustrates the difference between real America loving citizens and neocon puppets. When the Neocon gets caught the puppet is programed to say BBBBut Clinton.....

Dick Morris attempt to define cronyism to Hilliary and some here :)

Do the Clintons Now Support Jail Time for Perjurers?
Friday , July 06, 2007

By Dick Morris and Eileen McGann

Former President Bill Clinton and Senator Hillary Clinton are absolutely outraged that President Bush granted executive clemency to Scooter Libby, recently convicted of making false statements under oath. They obviously believe that Libby should serve his thirty month sentence.

Does that mean that they now think that perjurers should go to jail? Or have they simply forgotten about Bill Clinton?s own plea agreement in the last hours of his presidency ? for making false statements under oath? Some people would call that perjury.

One would have thought that Hillary and Bill Clinton wouldn?t touch the Libby executive clemency issue with a ten-foot pole ? for lots of reasons.

After all, Bill Clinton has a well-earned reputation as the king of pardons ? granting 140 of them during his last minutes in office ? with many going to terrorists, people who had paid Hillary?s brothers to arrange for pardons, contributed money or key support to Hillary?s Senate campaign, given the Clintons expensive personal gifts, and/or made large contributions to Bill Clinton?s Presidential Library. One of the pardons went to Bill?s own brother, Roger, while another went to Susan MacDougal, who kept quiet about Clinton during the Whitewater trial.

That?s really cronyism, Hillary.

Given the disgraceful Clinton record on pardons, most reasonable people would have kept quiet ? especially when Libby?s offense was so similar to Bill?s own criminal conviction. But the self-righteous former first couple couldn?t resist. Once the clemency was announced, Hillary immediately attacked President Bush, saying, "This commutation sends the clear signal that in this administration, cronyism and ideology trump competence and justice.?

Hey, Hillary, do you understand what cronyism really means?

Cronyism is favoritism shown to friends and supporters without regard to their qualifications. And that?s what Bill Clinton?s pardons were all about. Except, as usual, the Clintons went way over the top. So, in addition to granting pardons to undeserving friends, Bill Clinton also pardoned undeserving strangers who paid his family, friends, campaign coffers, and presidential library.

Now Bill and Hillary claim that his highly controversial pardons were ?different? than the Libby clemency.

He?s absolutely right ...

The big difference was that many of the Clinton pardons were patently bought and paid for ? something event he Clintons don?t claim to be the case in the Libby commutation.

Hillary?s brothers were paid more than $500,000 to lobby the president for pardons that were then granted to con artists and drug dealers. For a fee of $400,000, Hugh Rodham successfully pushed for a pardon for drug kingpin Carlos Anabel Vignali, convicted of shipping a half-ton of cocaine from L.A. to Minnesota. His father was a big contributor to the Democratic Party ? he gave more than $150,000 to the Los Angeles Democrats. Obviously, the investment was a shrewd one.

That?s cronyism, Hillary. Get it?

Tony Rodham advocated a pardon for Edgar and Vanna Jo Gregory. The Gregorys, who owned a carnival company, defrauded a federal bank. When the pardon was publicized, Hillary stated that Tony was ?not paid? by the Gregorys for his work on the pardon. Tony repeated that line on the Larry King Show.

After an investigation, the House Government Operations Committee disagreed and announced that Hillary?s statement was inaccurate. Now, a federal bankruptcy court overseeing the carnival company?s bankruptcy is about to rule on whether over $100,000 paid to Tony Rodham at the time of the pardons was a loan or payment for ?consulting.?

The Gregorys contributed over $100,000 to Hillary?s campaign and other Democratic causes. These folks were well known to the Clintons ? they visited them at Camp David and were hired to stage two carnivals on the White House grounds ? paid for by the taxpayers.

That?s cronyism, Hillary.

When the Rodham brothers? exploits were made public, Bill and Hillary announced that they were ?shocked and saddened? by the disclosure. At the time of the pardons, the Rodham brothers were actually living in the White House with the Clintons and had made contact with the highest level of presidential assistants. But the Clintons claimed that they were totally unaware of what Hugh and Tony were doing.

But, it wasn?t just Hillary?s family who benefited from the Clinton cronyism. Bill?s brother Roger was pardoned for his drug conviction, and he was allegedly paid $30,000 to promote six felons ? although those pardons were never granted.

That?s cronyism, Hillary.

The most outrageous Clinton pardons went to sixteen members of the terrorist gang, the FALN, a Puerto Rican nationalist group responsible for over 130 bombings in the U.S. ? attacking the N.Y. office of the FBI, military recruiting headquarters, and even former president Jimmy Carter?s Chicago campaign office. Six people died and dozens more were injured as a result of FALN?s actions. These terrorists never even asked for a pardon, but because Hillary wanted to ingratiate herself with the Hispanic population in New York during her first Senate race, they were suddenly granted a commutation of their sentences.

Although the commutations were opposed by the FBI and the Clinton Justice Department, Bill Clinton granted them to all 16 terrorists. Once again, Hillary claimed to have ?no involvement in or prior knowledge of the decision.? Her statement is ridiculous. Two days before the announcement of the pardons, New York City Councilman Jose Rivera personally presented Hillary with a packet of materials including a letter asking her to ?speak to the president and ask him to consider granting executive clemency to the prisoners.? What a coincidence ? the sentences were immediately commuted!

Hillary, that?s another example of cronyism.

Joe Connor, the son of one of the innocent men killed by the FALN terrorists at the Fraunces Tavern in Manhattan, put it this way:

?The Clinton family traded the release of terrorists for votes, votes that were promised to be delivered by New York politicians to Hillary for senate and Gore for president. That was clear.?

That?s cronyism, Hillary.

And Hillary actually has the audacity to accuse President Bush of cronyism! This woman has no shame.

Then, of course, there was also Marc Rich, the fugitive oil broker who renounced his American citizenship. Rich was illegally buying oil from Iran during the American trade embargo and hid the $200 million in trading (and over $100 million in profits) with Iraq using dummy transactions in off-shore corporations.

Ironically, Scooter Libby was one of Rich?s lawyers, while Rudy Giuliani was the U.S. Attorney who brought the indictment. Amazingly, the U.S. Attorney?s Office was never contacted by the White House for input into the pardon decision. Here?s what the prosecuting attorney had to say about the pardon:

?I cannot imagine two people that were less suited for a presidential pardon than Marc Rich and Pincus Green[the co-defendant]. It is inconceivable that President Clinton chose to pardon the two biggest tax cheats in the history of the United States who had renounced their citizenship, been fugitives for seventeen years, and who had traded with the Iranians during the hostage crisis. While I do not know what motivated President Clinton to pardon Rich and Green, I can state that it is implausible that those pardons were based on his evaluation of the merits of the case...? [http://jurist.law.pitt.edu/pardonsex8.htm]

Interestingly, Rich?s wife bought furniture for the Clinton?s Chappaqua home and contributed at least $450,000 to the Clinton Library.

That?s cronyism, Hillary.

Finally, there were the four New Square pardons. There, the Hasidic defendants were convicted of pocketing $40 million of federal scholarship money. Hillary visited the community, and on Election Day the community supported Hillary 1400 to 12. Weeks later, on December 22, 2000, President Clinton met with the New Square leaders to discuss a pardon. Hillary attended the meeting, but claims that she did not speak.

Apparently, she didn?t have to ? the pardons were granted.

That?s cronyism, Hillary!

I know Dogs loves America. I know it. He's just captured by his political views which he thinks are good for us. But there's no less love by Dogs than anyone else. He's just a born right winger is all (I think he comes by it honestly).

Without a doubt he thinks he is doing good but he has been programed by the neocons to regurgitate anything they say as truth. Much like a Stepford Wife. Look above how again he uses Clinton to try to defend Libby and Bush. It's almost comical.
