Bush was taking us to war. No matter what the U.N came up with.

Anyone who believes the contrary is just kidding themselves. The decision was made before 9/11, even before the election, in which he got less votes than the idiot who lost. No matter what the UN found it would have never deterred bush from the agenda at hand, which is all his presidency has been about.
This president has accomplished dick, because he has spent all his energy on 1 thing.

This war was planned for over 2.5 years at least. I have family pretty high up in military, who told us that long ago to look for anti saddam campaign anywhere between 2/03 to 6/03. Maybe they were just psychic

With all possible apologies to Eddie Haskell, I find it so amusing that a large percentage of people in the U.S. today are concerned with getting the U.N.'s approval to take on Iraq. Smash Mouth - were you concerned in 1998 when Clinton bombed Iraq without U.N. approval? In other words, you want countries like Camaroon telling the United States what we should or shouldn't do? I applauded Clinton (one of the few times) when he had the nuts to at least act like we were fighting back. When "W" tries to take the "P.C" route, many people are up in arms over our refusal to consult the impotent U.N. Do you really care if we have the permission of the Frances, Germanys, Russias and Camaroons?

Clinton also was planning in going to the un security council for a vote in backing his going into Kosovo & Bosnia. When he realized he didn't have the votes for security council approval he pulled back his resolution & bombed Kosovo & Bosnia without un approval.
Other than the conflict in korea, I don't know of any action that the un backed. Does anyone know of others?

without going into detail, if we are going to do it, just do it, the ambiguity is harmful to the economy as well. Not trying to make lite of political situation, but the majority is indebted to the USA financially and product wise, I know itr's a global economy, but many would be more harmed by the USA not dealing with them or collecting/shutting them off financially than the reverse. Once they felt the reality of that or something happened on their soil, who will the majority come to?? the USA.
It's like a "little" heart attack, it ain't "little" when it happens to you.

Just an overall take, i am obviously no politician or world economist

If ole Al Gore was president today i can't imagine where we would be. I think the way W administration handled 9-11-01 was stellar considering the circumstances. All these anti war poppers need to step back and see what is really going on over there. If they are marching for No war with iraq, they might as well be holding up signs that say "Sadaam keep gasing children", "Kill your own" ect...

i think this last vote

i think this last vote

if there is one,is basically to get these anti-resolution countries on record(france and germany in particular).....when we do go in,and we will,it will be telling to all involved to see what is found.....i wonder if france, with all their oil and business dealings(possibly weapons and technology) with iraq, knows it has something to hide.....if weapons, technology, and other incriminating stuff is found, france and the others blocking this action will look like they were side-stepping the u.n. resolution to line their pockets....making the u.n. look like nothing more than a useful tool to further their political and economic goals without any real conviction regarding making the region and the world safer.....or if dungeons or prisons are found with evidence of extreme human rights violations......

if we go in,and this turns into a long,drawn-out bloody conflict replete with many civilian and u.s. casualties, and not uncovering any evidence of the weapons or evidence of weapons processing,or any of the supposed atrocities being commited by sadam, then bush`s presidency goes kaput and the u.s will be the bully of the world....hated and resented even more than we already are....

i have to think bush has to have some idea he has the goods to make his case....and from the stance that france and germany are taking,it`s obvious that they really would like to avoid this war(maybe for altruistic reasons....maybe not....i`m guessing not) .....

if bush is gambling, and he`s wrong, and things go badly, this will doom his presidency.....if he`s right, things go as planned and he uncovers the afforementioned things,we can only hope the france`s and germany`s are left out in the cold(economically, politically and morally in the world`s eyes).....

this is one high stakes poker game.....

I really think there is a lot of things that Bush and others know but they cant reveal to the world and the american public. I just cant see Bush risking so much without having the goods even though he cant discuss it for security and strategic reasons.

Seems like Bin and his gang started looking for more ways toharm us ever sonce 91 war. They were so pissed that we were useing Saudi asa jumping off spot. So the affect of 91 carried over some what to 9/11. I did find out this Sunday on fox. Much of the planing for this war started in 98. At that time they deside to just do some bombing instead for 4/5 days.
Yes we can go it alone with out UN approval. Then if China deside it wants Taiwan. I guess they can just go ahead with out anyones approval. Or any other nation that wants to take over some other small fly can do it. We may open a can of worms here we never will get shut. But we need no ones approval. The world is about 60/40 against us right now. I dont call that great leadership. As for gore and what he mayhave done. There is no answer because he is not in charge. And for a guy that won the election by just one vote. Well i cant say that was much of a mandate. So go it with out backing but be ready for others to follow our lead. Thats when be the leader of the world means you must be very wise with what you do.
