I was in the business for several years as a General sales manager and a Finance director. Trades with high mileage are usually sold to independent local wholesale lots or sent to auction. Dealers will sell vehicles at or around invoice above or even below for many possible reasons. If the car has been sittingf on the lot for too long they will want to move it or if they are getting close to their goal set by manufacturer the get stairstep a certain amt fro manufacturer per car sold for that month or if they can secure financing and hold rate or make money selling back-end products like servive contracts, credit life or disability ins. gap etch etc. They will make their money.no mater what. The question is how much will you allow them to make.

Hudson Valley area.....NY
wow...I made page two...447 hits...thank you all for your responses...
I just got a call from the manager of the Honda dealer...He was asking me "how everything went" with my sales two weeks ago.I laughed and said "are you calling me because of my survey. He out and out lied and said "no,just calling to see if your car is running good..we like to follow up on all our car sales.I told him you guys did that already via the phone and e-mail.I told him I gave you guys a poor rating on the survey because what you did at the end. I explained to him the whole story. He said he didn't know.......he was very upset...said we don't use those tactics....the used car manager is the one who I have to talk too.He told me the manager will call me later today...."we want to resolve this".
Could that honda survey really mean that much to a local dealer....maybe my line in the survey....I have 299 people to tell about" hit someone at headquarters. or maybe this is another game they all play...the manager does seem upset.....I'll keep everyone posted....thanks again for everyones responses...

Surveys are a big deal. There is something called a csi score or customer satisfaction index. Manufacturers will ding dealerships who get low scores. and salesmen can forfeit their commission. Some dealers ask customers to bring it in, get a good score and dealer will give a free oil change. If the manager was smart and thought you might give him a bad score he would send the survey to a phantom address and fill it out themselves. We did it occASIONALLY. :nono: Lots of tricks.
