anybody tried to buy a new mattrress set lately, last time I bought was in 1996 and now I am moving and want to get new mattress,I am having trouble deciding, every brand says they are the best and they are all on sale all the time, don't like the feel of a tempurpedic or the price, want a really soft bed but the really soft are really expensive, tired to going to these discount outlets to try to find a deal, trust me they are a waste of time, any suggestions

mattress salesman are the best. You can negotiate w/these jokers. Find the one you want and BS them. I bought one a few years back and got on my cell right in front of the dude and started calling his competitors w/his offer :mj07:

Good luck bud these things are a nightmare to buy. Just go to a sale and lay on one for awhile and see how it feels. You will go nuts with these things. Don't let anyone talk you into a waterbed. Im sure the one Vinny likes cost about two grand. He has a bit of champagne taste. He just bought a vacuum cleaner for 20 thousand dollars.

The one that feels the best to you everybody is different but they are well built mattress. A friend of mine owns a furniture store & that's the only brand he will sell.

Been sleeping on a Tempurpedic for about five months now and I think it might very well have been the best purchase I have ever made. Seriously, it rocks!

yep, I've had mine now for a few years, and it cost a lot, but it has held up perfectly, and it sleeps like a dream.

We recently bought a Simmons Beautyrest "mid-grade" set from Mattress Warehouse for about $1500. I found that the pillowtop type give the illusion of soft but provide excellent support. My only complaint is that sometimes I feel like the princess with the pea. The original mattress was like 5"-6" in depth whereas the new one is 15". I opted for the low profile boxsprings but it's still substantially taller than the last bed.

It's funny you say that VA--bought a new one similiar few months back--I wanted smaller firm one but wife had her heart set on tall one.

Now she has short stool next to bed so she doesn't have to jump up to get in bed :)

On the course!
When I was in Florida, my sister bought a new box spring and matty. She went to a guy she's worked with before, and she's sent some folks his way.

He sold her an "off brand" $290 set that he said was exactly the same as a "name brand" $900 set they had.

She has not complained about it in the last few months, so it must be okay.

There's people from Illinois that go to Florida sometimes. Watch yourself.

Considering how important a good night's sleep is, the cost of a good mattress is somewhat secondary to my comfort. Having said that, my wife and I brought home and/or tried about 10 different high quality brand name mattresses, including the tempurpedic. We slept on everyone of them(don't believe the "no return" policy). My wife and I both have back trouble and the absolute most comfortable was the Sleep Number mattress. Your side can be adjusted to the firmness you desire and your partner can separately adjust her side. It's great!

I bought an Anglebed 2 weeks ago. Great customer service and a great product....if I had the money I probably would have gone with the Tempupedic, but I have no complaints at all about what I ordered.

I want one of those Heavenly Beds from The Westin.

Stayed there last year around this time and slept for 2 days solid. Best dam bed I have ever been in!

I agree with the Judge, we purchased a tempurpedic about 4 months ago at the urging of my wife. I am a tightwad but would still agree it was well worth the purchase. I used to wake up with all kinds of aches and pains but that is totally gone. Of course, I have heard stories of people that can't stand them and I agree it did take a couple of days to get used to but I love it now!

I agree, the Heavenly beds are awesome. You can actually purchase these from the Westin or Hotel W in-room catalogs or on the Westin website for a mere $1495.00 plus shipping.

All kidding aside the westin bed is made by Simmons. If you go into a bed shop and ask one of the sales guys, they will point you to the same one without the price.

From the Westin website

The bed is manufactured by Simmons exclusively for Westin Hotels. It is composed of a 12-? no flip pillow top mattress with the exclusive motion separation technology and individually pocketed coils. The box spring unit is 8-3/4". Each bed is sold as a mattress and box spring unit and is made to order.

Good luck!!
