OK......I want to get a little discussion going about this. Only for basketball, however. I have never tried this in football, but I will explore than when the time comes.
Anyways, I have just recently started buying certain lines down in college hoops. The reason for me writing this is I almost completely got screwed by not taking a measley point in the Virginia Tech game. If it werent for the buzzer beater they made, I would be crying about taking the moneyline of +100 instead of taking the 1 point at -110. Who would think that a point would matter?? Anyways, I feel like buying points may set you back more than it helps. When you lose, it hurts a lot more. I bought the Providence line down yesterday and Pitt blew them out....I lost more than I would have. I am just curious if anyone has numbers to show if this may help them over the long haul or if it is a sucker bet.
With the lines so sharp and home court seems magnified this time of the season.....you are not getting the quality home dogs that we got in the earlier part of the season. Instead, those same teams are -4, -5, etc. If you like the favorite, you have the uneasy feeling that you will lose in the middle somewhere. I have been thankful for buying a couple points here and there, but I have also made bad nights a lot worse by buying points.
Any opinions on this?
