believe it or not i'm nice as pie to these folks. i'm old enough to realize that if there is a chance i'm gonna get it refunded it's by being nice. The folks on the other end making 7 dollars an hour don't control the fees it's the big wigs fault not theirs. I tried 3 different people and no one would budge! In a way I'm just trying to understand why it's not working...have tried all the resets, etc. But for an HD-DVR to work in there it makes sense that a plain old HD receiver should work.

THe guy is coming Thurs AM 8-12.

i've been happy with the actual directv just not that i'm being charged for adding service/increasing my bill.

give me the model #

are you getting standard signal thru the one they sent you..

Does IKS have the NFL Package:shrug:

It depends on how you look at it.
No NFL package because it is Dish, but it does offer tons of different city locals and you can find all but maybe 1 or 2 games every Sunday on the right cities locals.

Question is do you have an issue ripping off the man?
In this case the man being Dish Network.

I look at it this way. Someone is paying for that subscription. Just not me.

My morals are pretty low and I would pay for it if it was a fair price but it is not.

Got a question. I had dish network for wife (the great wall package) She use the english/chinese teaching station .

I cancel bout 6 months ago and sent back everything they ask for (receiver and remote) Dish is still intack on my roof.
Can I --
A: utilize it in some way
B: sell it
C: make them come remove it

Both Dish and Directv let you keep that part of the system in tact in hopes you sign up again or if you sell/rent out the place a new owner will join.

As for your question:
A. You can use it to get IKS(Internet Key Sharing) it is somewhat illegal I guess. I mean amazon.com allows sells for all the stuff to do it so how illegal is it?

B. It is yours and you can probably get between $25 and $40 for the dish in a yard sale or craigslist.

C. I don't think they will come out for removal even if you pay them.

"The HD Mystery"

Slimline 5 i believe

The HD-DVR that I have is the HD-DVR - HR23-700

The new HD receiver I ordered was the HD - H21-200.

So in the room I want the new HD receiver, we were not using but the previous owner had it wired with 2 lines in case a DVR was needed.

The new HD receiver will only get standard def in that room. However, when I bring my HD-DVR from another room and try it there, it receives HD without a problem. Same line in the new HD receiver...no HD. When I set it up certain satellites (99 and 103*) were red x's...

this model should come with a broad band converter..

all model receivers have either an internal or external broadband converter.

your HD-DVR has an internal..thus it converts the signal coming in upstairs so you get the perfect reception..

I called Directv for you..

If you didn't receive an external broadband converter w/the new receiver Directv will ship you one out..In fact the nice rep suggested you ask for two, having one for back-up.

This is the easy fix...now she did say that you may have wiring issues as well..But not likely..

Because the HD/DVR converted the signal for you up-stairs I highly doubt it is a wiring issue..

You can call Directv w/this update of info if you like..Rep said that a Knowing tech should tell you the same info..

hope this helped..

If not...we tried..

I have used them all---

directv and the unlooper.

dish subscription, IKS and SUNS via Nfusion

Now have Verizon FIOS bundle package.

Verizon is the best if you have to pay for it. FIOS is the shit for surfing the net and the quality for HD is unmatched by the other services.
