Above the Clouds....
You do know that most beaches in Cabo are closed to swimming right?

Try the other coast in Playacar. We go every year and completely safe and beautiful beaches.

Wow. I didn't realize the issues extended to tourist areas. May rethink. I want a place I can take my boys blue water fishing. Wife couldn't care less as long as a beach, spa and pool are available. We also want to go somewhere new. Hawaii is safe, but wildly expensive and weve been there withat kids twice. May look into carribean. Suggestions?

Mexico is completely safe. We go every year to Playacar. Check it out. We go into town and have a ball with the locals nothing to be worried about.

Jamaica is my go to place. Negril is my fav but Montego Bay is next on my list.

My wife and I are going here pretty soon. Haven't booked yet, but are planning to do so this summer. Possibly a for a four day jaunt. It's about $900 per night. I am guessing it is worth it though.

My wife and I got to Mexico every chance we get. My sister in law lives in Mazatlan and has never had any issues. My kids go down there and stay and I have no worries. When we went to Cabo I felt as safe as I feel here in the States. I will agree that the big negative to Cabo is you can't get in the water. I love to surf but man that water there is wicked. I almost had some issues when I just went out waste deep in it.

Saying all of that, it's a beautiful place and totally worth it. Would I take my kids there? Probably not my first pick in Mexico but I would feel safe with them there.(as long as they're not swimming in the ocean)

Been all over Mexico. Was robbed by gun point near the Princess hotel in Acapulco years ago. But I'm no quitter I keep going back.

Everything you say you have done is "years ago". You haven't left Detroit since you have been posting on this site.
