Didn't Ohio St. beat Illioin 17-10 @Illinois? Didn't Illinois outgain Ohio St.? Both teams were even in turnovers. If Illinois was +1 or +2 turnovers, I think Illinois pulls off the upset. Oregon ST. was +4 turnovers AND got special teams TD and they only won by 2pts. Oregon St. is better than Illinois. OSU is fortunate Illinois turned the ball over twice themselves. If Illinois played perfect ball like Oregon St. did against USC, OSU "probably" loses.

this is just spewing nonsense. the ohio state/illinois game was never close. it was 17-0 early and ohio state, for the first time this season, played "tressel ball" and sat on a lead because the conditions were windy and ohio state built a comfortable lead and didnt get crazy trying to extend it. illinois was scrappy, but that final was close on the scoreboard only. illinois never had a true shot to win.

Illinois turned it over twice. OSU turned it over twice. If Illinois played like Oregon St. and didn't turn the ball over at all, I think Illinois had chance to upset OSU. Very least make things exciting. Turnover ratio was even and OSU won by 7. What if Illinois was +2 turnovers? Oregon St. against USC was +4 turnovers with special teams TD and USC lost by 2pts.

My argument was to show "MAGS" that both OSU and Michigan have had close game. Michigan especially. Michigan had close games DESPITE winning the turnover ratio and being @Michigan.

"MAGS" said OSU and Michigan would NEVER lose to an unranked team. I proved to him they easily could have. Maybe more so Michigan than OSU. I did say OSU has played great all year. I am personally not sold on Michigan. (unless they beat OSU) I do not think OSU and Michigan are "apples" and USC and others are "oranges."

Last year USC and Texas were apples and the rest of the teams were Oranges. Not so this year.

I get the vibe you didn't watch that game. If OSU felt threatened at any point they would have put another two touchdowns on the board. They looked disinterested and almost a bit lazy, which happens to many good teams throughout the season, but they still got the win. Don't really see how that can be compared or how the turnover ratio factors is. Scoreboard is all that matters at this point.

USC had a decent year, but blew their chance at Oregon State. It only takes one bad loss to blow a season. That was it.

Sorry..... but there's always next year....

So how much are you risking on cal? Maybe, they lose to cal and Notre Dame. Will sc deserve a shot at Montana St? Maybe my longhorns get to play MSate if they lose to the ags, or the big 12 championship.

where would this conversation be if osu/mich were played at the beginning of the season? close game either way. I agree, I don't want to see a rematch (unless of course if osu loses) I want osu to win and move on to win the nc...

If OSU/Michigan played in beginning of the year, like Miami/FSU, then I would be more open to sending the loser of that game to the BCS NC if they earned the trip. That would NOT be an example of rewarding a LOSER. You could argue Michigan or OSU redeemed themselves with a win against ND or Texas. However, the loser of that game STILL would not have a more impressive resume than USC.

Sending the team with less points tom. to the BCS NC would be rewarding a LOSER!

Scott,

Seriously, USC lost to a bunch of beavers:mj07: :142smilie

And USC might be playing for the BCS NC if they win out. :mj06:

I would rather lose to Oregon St. than Arkansas, Nebraska, Oregon, CAL, ND, or UCLA. If USC lost @ARKY, USC prob. is out of the BCS hunt.

I am more impressed with wins than losses. It is more important you beat the top teams on the schedule and if you lose a game, have it come against a weaker team.

Did I mention this is a rebuilding year for USC?

USC fans are spoiled. :toast:

WATCH OUT NEXT YEAR! :scared

Scott,

USC's fans are not spoiled because half of them weren't uSC fans until about 3 years ago. Also your reasoning behind USC losing to a weaker team is BS. If they lost to Cal and Mich. or OSU lost to Northwestern, you would be crying the other way. I understand and respect the fact that you SEEM to be a loyal USC fan, but you are completely spinning that logic to where it looks better for your team.
By the way, I do think your boys win and cover this week.

Stick a fork in the Trojans

This team is pretty banged up at the RB position and was hit hard by NFL departures, add to the fact that their home field advantage is minimal because pathetic 10 conference fans really don't care if their team wins or looses. I have been to 2 Rose Bowls where Wisconsin brought 80,000 plus and UCLA had 8-10K at their own stadium, they would rather hang out at starbucks.

FYI USC plays @ the Collisium...It holds 90k+
& they have won 31 straight @ home...
I'd say that is a damn good home field advantage.

You don't know anything about USC football.

IF USC LOSES LAST 2 WHAT BOWL ARE THEY INVITED TO WITH 3 LOSSES

ROSE BOWL

USC wins the Pac 10 conference. :mj06:

USC vs LOSER of OSU/Michigan game. ;)

That would make 5 straight BCS Bowl appearances for the USC Trojans!

Scott:

Correct me if I am wrong, but if USC loses their last 2, I think Cal would go to the Rose Bowl and win the PAC 10.

USC would have 2 conf. losses and Cal only one. That is east coast logic anyway. Get some sleep man:142smilie

Actually if SC lost their last 2 they are in the RB>>>

Actually if SC lost their last 2 they are in the RB>>>

The reason is that if SC beats Cal today then they would have one loss and Cal would have 2. SC still has ND and also UGLA left. SC would have the 2 loss tie breaker on the Commies from Cal if SC somehow lost to the crap on the other side of town.
