Cali's Recall

Of course I've piflered these from other sites, but most worthwhile posting, IMO- Chan:

"as for the reasons california's in such trouble, 20% increase in revenue, 20+% increase in inflation, 40+ increase in state spending.

the power crisis was a very, very small part of what caused this. however it was davis who's indecisiveness forced the state into long term contracts at the very height of the price spike.

next, when the dot com bubble created one year of gigantic revenue's, davis signed off on extreme increases in spending despite admitting that the revenues would not be there forever.

when the bubble burst and it was first understood that the revenue would not be coming in, instead of freezing spending, he increased it.

when the election rolled around, davis lied to the people and said we were facing a manageable 12 billion dollar deficit. then, after the election he announced it would be more along the lines of 32-35 billion.

he tripled the vehicle license fee which will destroy the poor and middle class in the state. this was done to get around the 2/3 majority needed in the state legislature to pass a tax increase. it's now in the courts.

he proposed removing property tax breaks for small businesses at a time where more companies are leaving the state than are leaving all other states combined.

he has overtaxed businesses to the point where 1 in 5 are considering leaving the state or branching and shifting focus into other states.

these are just a few of the reasons davis needs to be dumped. his approval rating is in the low 20's and almost two thirds of the state think he should be replaced. that is amazing, considering california is far from a red state."
