Hey, I like a few tonight on the left coast. Was wondering what your thoughts were on these?
Cal Poly +3.5, Even though the Vandals are on an uptick, two words sum up this one for me: Varnie Dennis. Idaho has no match for him on the interior. He went for 30 on the Vandals last time out, big matchup problems for the home team here.
San Diego +3.5, USD looks to be improving, think this is a nice spot for them to get a conference W against an overachieving Santa Clara squad that tends to underachieve on the road. Toreros can't fall to 0-5 in WCC at Jenny Craig, can they?
St. Mary's -2, The Dons don't lose too many in War Memorial (8-0 this year), but there is a reason this one has moved two points from pick to -2. The Gaels entered this back-to-back situation with USF in a desperate need for a sweep to get them back into the WCC race for second. I believed at the beginning of play that the Gaels were the second best team in the conference and I still believe that, despite some surprising losses to inferior foes, Gaels are the better team. Dons allow opponents to get to the line an average of 7 more times and don't particularly hit the boards that hard, something the Gaels do well. Might get some homer calls at home, but that stat is an ugly one IMO.
Give me your thoughts please, johnnyb. Anybody else's thoughts are also very welcomed.
Good Luck to All,
-JC
