Relating to a response to a thread we had recently here started by Kosar the Terrible (jk, with a name like that, it sounds like some Dark Ages title should go with it LOL)....

off the local radio.....

A guy recently got a ticket for eating a red light at an intersection here in Chi Town. He contested the ticket and said that there was no proof that he was driving the vehicle at the time of the alleged infraction. The city of course, showed him the picture taken to prove he was. As it turns out, the guy driving his car through the red was someone wifey was F'n on the side........OOPS :poke

He's filed. :flush: :142lmao:

Recently heard another story of technology getting the best of a driver....

A coworker of mine got a speeding ticket in the mail recently, citing that he was going over the posted limit on the Garden State Parkway. He was suprised, since he never got pulled over, why or how he's getting a ticket. When he read further he found out how he was caught ---- EZ Pass. Apparently there has been established an acceptable time span that it will take to get from one toll booth to the next. He was faster than this time span so he got a ticket. Pretty bogus if you ask me, now Big Brother is always watching.

That was always my problem with the EZ pass. How it can be used to monitor your speed, how often you travel, etc etc. Too much info for the state if you ask me. I've got to think somehow legally a person has to be protected from this. Being caught speeding in the act is one thing, but to infter and assume speeding based on the mileage and the "applicable time limit" is absolutely ridiculous and an infringement on personal rights if you ask me.

I didn't think anyone had actually used EZPass yet to hand out tickets? I thought I heard that some parts of NJ used it to "notify speeders" that they were spededing, but that it stopped short of handing out violations.

The minute they start handing out violations, there will be no more users (I'd sure as hell give it up in a heartbeat)... so I don't think it's heading down that road.

This guy had a speeding ticket in the envelope -- I saw it with my own two eyes.

What I don't like is that when using this method they don't even know who is driving the car --- could be your wife, kid, or friend, but the ticket goes to the owner of the EZ Pass account.

If your driving to foxwoods casino they have signs posted that your speed is being monitored by aircraft. Reminds me of the movie enemy of the state...
