Can anyone justify a play on the Jets?

The line in this game is now a pick. Please post your reasons for betting the Jets.

im not playing 'em, but

1) division revenger at home (and the last two weekend in primetime, this setup cashed for the dog...philly at washington...new eng at miami)

2) jets need the game (sometimes people go too far with the 'must win' angle, but its applicable here)

3) first meeting was a tossup. new england won, but jets had plenty of chances and 13-7 in gilette is nothing to be ashamed of.

4) pats in off a short week.

all that said, no way do i go against brady after such a dismal monday night effort.

I understand the factors you mentioned, Gman. But like you, I don't see the Pats losing this game. I see some cappers on the Jets and I just want someone to explain why.

very good point's. I'll add that Jet's are unbeaten at home this year with Pennington at QB. They also fit a nice angle I use in that they are a home dog that rushes the ball very well. (over 150 yds per game) . I also rate their defense slightly better than NE. Allowing over a field goal less than NE. I do think the advantage of the line is slowly but surely slipping away. Line opened NE -3, I played Jet's +2 but I see it a pick in most places now.

You heard it here first Jets win this game 31-17 and it wont even be that close. NE sec beat up and Chad has ny media size chip on his shoulder. Also Hackett will open it up early having the pass set up the run instead of the run set up the pass.

Interesting...I see the line now moving even more towards the Jets...presumably because Pitt is on the verge of locking up #1 in the AFC with a win in their game (not that it's over yet, but it's getting close). So maybe some bettors are feeling NE has no motivation to win if they can't get #1?

BUT...the Pats still have PLENTY of reason to want to win this game. They haven't locked up the #2 spot yet either...seems a lot of people have forgotten this. The Pats definitely want to make sure they are hosting a game in the 2nd round and get that bye...

How is the secondary beat up if Ty Law is coming back????? Yeah Poole is out, but he has always been out. John Abraham is out for NY Jets, and he was in the game theri last meeting. Also NE best WR Branch is now in the lineup as well and wasn't in the last game. So the Pats gain their best WR, while the JEts lose their best defensive linemen (from the last game they played)

You're right...they have, as long as Balt & Jax both lose. Both would have 6 losses in conference. Bills have already lost 6 conference games. Jets have 4 losses in conference with only one conference game to go (today). Denver's only got 5 conference losses, but Denver plus one of those other teams would have to finish ahead of the Jets to keep them out...can't happen if these scores hold.

Wrong - Patriots need to win to get 2nd place and get the first round bye, and round 2 game at home. Not JUST pride. #2 seed is still very important. If the Pats come 3rd they don't get the bye, and they have to win 3 games, including back-to-back road games @ SD and @ Pitt to get to the Superbowl.

wrong jets are not in they are the team out in a 3 way tie at 10-6 with bills and broncos. In three way tie common opponent becomes the tie breaker with the bills not confrence record because the 2 teams are in the same division some wierd stipulation and bills have better record against common opponents if they both finish 10-6.

Point Jets need to win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

At the half, Tom Brady has thrown for 180 yards and one touchdown. In contrast, Chad Pennington has thrown for 80 yards and one interception. Neither team has been able to get the running game going with the Patriots rushing for only 44 yards and the Jets for a mere 29.

The Pats are up 13-0 and the book is giving them 3 points for the 2nd half. This is a belated Christmas gift that I will happily accept.

5* - Patriots +3 (2nd Half)
