Taking all the Independents I can.

Go Navy!!!!!

Somehow every November, the best capping forum on the net turns into an ESPN fan board. Happens when people run out of money

Navy-Texas Tech is an intriguing matchup. I wonder if the over is a good play. I have to believe that each offense will be 3 steps ahead of the respective defenses. What a contrast in styles. What they'll see will be completely different from what they've practiced against all year.

watching texas tech try to stop the option should be comical.

keep in mind, the reason teams with these 5-wide, air-it-out offenses have terribily soft, unphysical defenses is because when it comes to practice time, they dont get a chance to play against physical, smashmouth run formations.

dont get me wrong, tech gonna score a bunch on that navy defense. just think its gonna be funny watching texas tech have defenders turned around and running into defensive chaos trying to stop the option

Whoa, Whoa, Whoa!!

This is starting to look like a handicapping thread. Unless you think that Navy will get EXPOSED by the mighty Big XII or that Texas Tech got screwed out of the Fiesta, please go elsewhere.

Being a ND fan, I hate all the conferences in football. I'm just glad that by ND losing, we could screw USC 1 more time:D Gotta love that BCS system;)

Rating conferences

Rating conferences

SEC is by far the best conference in the nation. This coming from someone in Big Ten country. Florida and Georgia should win big in their Bowl games. Pac Ten top to bottom was the worst out of the big conferences. Big East most over rated. Big Twelve also very overrated. ACC will do well in their Bowls as I see Florida State, Maryland and Virginia winning with the possiblity of Tennessee losing to Clemson because of motivational factors. The following Big Ten teams should lose Michigan, Ohio State, Purdue, Iowa and Northwestern. Minnesota should be the only team that should win. Wisconsin should be close and Michigan State will be a close game also. Good luck Gardenweasel
By the way most underated conference the MAC. How the hell does the Mac get into 2 bowls and Conference USA 5? Thats worse than the BCS crap!

help me out a bit...go back to wareagle`s thread and please help me out out with several wisky questions i had......

and btw....great analysis on the strength of conference write up....i thought it was fair and very solid...really an beginning to believe that the big 12 is nowhere near as strong as i originally thought(i originally thought they were head and shoulders above all other conferences)....no offense big 12 backers...

and yes,the mac,and particularly niu were treated like red headed step children....criminal...

great job,greed

I'm going to be going straight anti-consensus this year again which will wind up with mostly dogs and then will 'capp the games for new year's.

The only thing that I've learned about the bowl matchups is that you can take look at all the positional matchups, all the rushing stats, strength of conference from what you see on the field and it absolutely has no bearing on what happens on the field once the bowl game starts.

And with all the historical evidence that is there for dogs covering (and winning outright) over the last several years, there are still so many over 7 point dogs. Looks a little fishy, but there's no way I'm going to spend more than 10 minutes fundamentally capping any of these games. I think it's a waste.

Good Luck to all in their handicapping and their plays.

Good post, enjoyed all the replies also, and yes a few can pick against their conf.s, Sooners, unless something or somebody gets me off of them prior to game.
As for the Mac, love em and am looking forward to Miami Ohio coming here to Mobile to play Louisville in the GMAC. Believe Me when I say (I think) Cardinals will not have a huge fan advantage, why, LOTS of locals will show support to Miami O as a tip of the ole hat for what N.Ill did to Bama early in year. Bama never really recovered the rest of the year, So alot of respect was gained re: MAC Conf. OK, nuff of that.
Weather is usually a factor down here, we're so close to the Gulf Of Mexico, so rain and wind is not uncommon. But weather permitting(lol) Miami Ohio may be My favorite pick of bowls. Will be trying to go see both teams prior to game and hope to get a feel for who may or may not be motivated. Good ludk to all. Buck

I'm only affiliated to the Maryland program because I live in this area and I watch most of their games.

Maryland has played WVU in back to back seasons and handled them pretty convincingly both times. Two years ago WVU at home jumped on top ,MD went ahead mid 2nd quarter and won by DD.

This year MD pretty much dominated from the start.

Confused that Vegas only hung a 3' on this game considering the last two matchups. Don't want to be a homer but IMO this looks way too good.

Gardenweasel since you're local do you see it differently?

To answer the orgianl question yes. You better cap games w/out any thoughts on conference or your favorite team. Im a Wisky backer. I had to go against them several time this year because I thought they were to big a fav. I wanted them to win but not by to much. In this bowl game if im getting +3 I'll take them. If they were fav'd I would watch or go against them.

i think i`ll join you....at least until january 1st..............seems to be some precedent over the last 4 or 5 years with december bowl dogs.....

garfield....i`m not sure that this is a primo maryland team this year.....they`re good....not as good as last year......and although they`ve owned west virginia recently, i have to think that west va. will have the mental with all that revenge motivation staring them in the face......

if i remember last year, west virginia laid a big, bigtime egg against another acc team in the bowls(virginia,i think).....

is rodriguez just a lousy bowl preparation guy?.....

west va. getting up to 4.....revenge....motivation from last year`s flop in their bowl......

or maybe freidgen vs rodriguez is just a flat out coaching mismatch....

a tough call....

:) I had to laugh when I saw your thread title GW because took time this morning to read all these threads and 1st thing I do is look at game 1st and 2nd look for what part of country author was from to determine bias.

Haven't followed college as much this year but to read several posts-then look at line spreads then take quick gander at Stats on sagarin http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/fbt03.htm
it can get quite confusing:D
